A hand shake deal, under the table agreement that we will re-sign him for 3 years next off season after a 1 year deal his off season, no matter if injured or whatever happens. In the end, he actually would make more money that way too I believe. 16633360 as opposed to 14988891 due to him making 3,477,600 this upcoming season (and getting 120% of that next off season with 5% raises for 3 years.

This is my understanding... The 4th year is considered "deferred" and the cap hit gets spread over the first 3 years. However, since the Rockets offer is already maxed out in every year of the deal, this can't be done. You either cut the 4th year entirely, or reduce the first 3 years so much to accommodate the deferment that it ends up being the same overall salary anyway.
