It is hard to believe that I spend more time and posting in the Hangout Forum, Fantasy Hoops Forum, and NBA Dish Forum. Hell, I read the Feedback Forum almost more now than the main forum. This is unheard for me because when I first started posting here, I never posted on any of the other forums. I probably had over 150 posts before I went to the other forums.

Why do I not spend much time here? Because the majority of the posts I read here in this forum run rampant with negativity! People, we are 5-2 and we have yet to play a good game, IMO. Be thankful that we aren't 0-7. Instead of looking at things half empty, why not look at things half full?

Yes, the Rockets have problems with their defense, their frontcourt, shooting, etc. And there is nothing wrong with posting topics on these problems on how to fix it, but to start threads like "Walt Sucks" or "Moochie Sucks" or "Dan Langhi, the Scrub", or "Whoever (Insert Name here after one bad game) Sucks" is pointless. The NBA season is 82 games long. That is almost half the games of a baseball season, and I think it's safe to say that the NBA season is a marathon and not a sprint. Didn't the Spurs one year start off like 8-10 and then went on to win over 55 gamesor something like that?

Yes, we should get upset if the Rockets get blown out by the Nuggets or teams like that. But for good God, people, get over it! It was a bad game in all aspects and leave it at that. It happens to every team. My expectations for the Rockets are high, but I'm a realist, too. If the Rockets can win more games than they did last season and make the playoffs after a 2 year absence, I will be extremely happy.

I know it's going to be impossible and especially if we lose tonight, but is it asking too much for the negativity threads to stay under control?

I'm beginning to see why so many people here avoid this forum completely now. Some of the best posters here stick to the Hangout Forum and Fantasy Hoops Forum. After reading some of these negative threads, do you blame them? I don't.

I personally don't care for all of the irrational optimism that takes over the place when we beat teams like the Hawks and the Iverson-less Sixers...

That's true, but it's one thing to be pointing out weaknesses that persist than to berate a player because he had one bad game. I don't think we should be jumping up and down for beating teams like the ones you mentioned. We should be jumping up and down for 2 reasons:

1) We have played like **** and instead of being 0-7, we are 5-2.

2) After tonight's game, there are still 74 games left. We should be able to get on a roll at some point in the season. However, the converse is that we can also have a terrible streak..I shudder to think what it will be like on this forum.

Granted I haven't been here that long, but didn't you almost get banned by Clutch because you were so freaking negative??

You missed my point completely. There's nothing wrong with a little negativity but the negativity is running rampant here. We have only played 7 games and we have a ****ing winning record!

I am a negative person, but my God, I am nowhere of being in the same galaxy with you! It's a wonder that you haven't committed suicide by now since you are so prone to depression.

Behad is right. You are nothing but a loser.

You're new.

It's like this every year. A topic about the board being too negative is pretty much a tradition - as is the board being negative.

But sometimes its well deserved. Like setting a new team record for lowest point total in a half.

I was banned because I posted 25 times in a "Ban ZRB" thread, and because I started to many in-game threads

If you don't like the prevailing attitude on this message board, then that is your problem. You are the loser if you let it bother you so much. Nothing you say is going to change the way people feel about what this team is doing. If they feel negative, that's just the way it is. Get used to it, or "Turn" off the computer.

CK,
Would it have helped if I said, "Well, hello Mr. Beck?" You were quoting the lyrics to Loser by Beck Hansen (Beck).

"You're alllllllllriiiigghtht Manny Ramirez. Hey if you need anything, you know, like keeping the meaning BGM off of your back, let me know. I have some funny photos of him playing some rock and roll. " - heb

More recent quote than yours...looks like I need to get Heb to get rid of this damn negativity and get mean ole CK off my back.

Rockets 2002: Game Action & Roster Moves - "A warm and fuzzy place"

ewwwwww.

I would like to add that (this player) sucks threads are running a lil too rampant. It seems like every few days 5 or 6 pop up. "so and so suck. We could have had this instead" blah blah blah. Can't wait til I get to start one.

kudos to Nikestrad. I've really enjoyed his posts in the game action so far this season.

Oh great. I have finally hit 'ultra elite quotable' status, yet I misspelled 'meanie'.

Manny, I think the negativity is twofold:
a) it lets one vent frustrations when their team loses.
b) it is used to constantly realign one's expectations of this team with reality.

When I look at the schedule, I expect the Rockets to win every game. Of course that's not going to happen, but likewise a record of 51-21 is something that you're only comfortable with once you've gotten there. Immediately after the games (a dedication of a fan's time, btw) we vent b/c of all of the missed fts, uncalled fouls, uncontested layups, etc. We vent, of course, b/c it's fresh and b/c we've meshed ourselves into the dilemna "will we win or will we lose".

We vent because this team is obnoxiously talented, and still hasn't clicked for 48 minutes, 8 games in.

Incidentally, I think Glen Rice may be approaching what we expect of a 'Glen Rice'.

BTW, you just bought 'Heaven or Las Vegas'.... don't ride it too far. :) When you've picked up Treasure and Four Calendar Cafe, you'll power up to an area where you're safe from even Crisco, Smegg and rimbaud.

Yes we are 5-3 now and thats the point MR. This team has squeked by playing against sorry or very, very avg teams. We should have that kind of record, but anyone who takes notice know we can't win the next games playing like that. Now you look up and the nuggets and warriors are winning too. Too me, its more about this team, most notably the coaches not adjusting to the rules. The Rockets are playing that kind of ball because the staff hasn't gooten the most out of the offensive options. Why keep running the same plays that getting you 90 pts per. If Glen Rice is going to contibute, leave Moochie on the bench and run some double screens for him to get him free. When we're in a funk, lets change the tempo by picking the ball up further down the court. I see teams do it to the Rockets all the time. They make Francis or Mobley turn 5,6 times and then when the Rox get past half court, they have 16 sec to run a play. Rudy just has to wake up and utilize this teams strengths which is speed and quickness.

Happens to the best of us, sometimes.
I agree with you. I just wanted to vent some negativity about the negativity. Seriously, we expect a lot from this team, but let's remember that they are still learning and that a lot of people feel that we won't make the playoffs this season.

Actually, Treasure is en route to my house as we speak. As is 11 other CDs. Are you a fan of Dead Can Dance and This Mortal Coil as well? What do you think about Massive Attack or Craig Armstrong (instrumental arranger for some of MA's songs - Liz Fraser sang on one of his tracks on his CD, "The Space Between Us" - another CD that is en route).

okie-dokie, Manny is my hero for the week. Not only does he start a Negativity about Negativity thread, but he makes a "Dead Can Dance" reference.

So, Manny, have you heard another 4AD great--Wolfgang Press? How about Dif Juz?

Also, if you like 4AD type stuff, try Sky Cries Mary ("Moon Dream Meadow Allegory," which you won't find in a store) and, of course, MC 900 ft Jesus...(neither of these are 4AD).
