    to all you anti-Jacksons.. S.T.F.U.
    are you all insane??

fact 1 the rockets will be over the cap for at least the next 5 or so years. why: mo, cuttino, rice, cato, as well as steves coming extention. we wont come out of the cap for a while.

fact 2 this is bonus money. this is 3+ million of free agent that we never really had. we are over the cap, we got nothing left. we wont be able to go after any free agents for a long while(not without sing/trades

fact 3 jackson can play the 2 positions that we need most THIS SEASON. he can still play center next season. Cato has not shown enough to warrent my faith in him, so i will take jackson as insurance no matter what. in short he fills an immediate as well as long term need.

fact 4 he is cheap as hell. how many centers are there in the league that come at near rookie salery levels?? and how many of those ever played a game like jackson did, let alone 2 months.

subjective point 1 he has all the same potential as all the losers being hyped up by you dilutionals out there. he was just a rookie, he can score and rebound, but the thing he has and Shawnell scott, or McCoy dont have is actuall experience/production. it is rediculous to say that because he is not 19 that he is old, or that he is a bad player. the dude just played his rookie year. he almost won ROY, he was actually the best of the class, but injured players dont win. dont cal him a bust or an over acheiver, because he has actually just that, an acheiver.

subjective point 2 I watched this cat back in college. i watched him play against wheeler and mobley i remember thinking that this guy was amazing. the way it feels to watch someone that is truely on another lever playing with mere boys. sure wheeler was on fire, but jackson really impressed me. he impressed me back then, and i will stick by him now. i tell you, i wasnt suprised whe Cuttino showed all of you what he had. i watched that since his freshman year. i have seem great players develope. jackson has the goods. Camby was probably the one big man that impressed me more, but everyone could see his potential even back then. 2 more players that i must mention here are Lamar odom. he is simply not human. and Tyson wheeler played(s) with more heart than humanly possible. he will eventually be on a roster.

    almost my final point 1
what if his stats wernt inflated?? what if i am right and he has the goods. what if he improves himself to 20/10 this year?? what then?? we are getting him(if we get him) at less that the league average. LESS THAN AVERAGE!!. all he has to do is produce the league average and we are winners. oh wait, he dosnt even need to do that. he was free. well not to less, but free to us free as far as the cap.

    woo hoo for us

the rockets are now firmly marching toward a title.

this is a win win, and win 52 more times scenerio

    PEACE

I agree. Getting Marc is a win win situation for the Rockets. I also think Lamar is going to be a monster, and Im not saying that because Odom and I hung out at my house one night. Its all about talent, and these guys have it . GO ROCKETS..

Marc Jackson is more of a 4 than a 5,but he can play both positions. He is basically replacing Mo Taylor because he has some simliarities like hitting the mid range jumper, but he is a better rebounder than Mo.
I think he can play together with Cato.

Despite Cato's lazy work ethic,he still is a decent shotblocker which Jackson isn't,but Jackson can rebound and shoot better than Cato, and even get some points in the paint.
I don't know if Golden State will match our offer, but I won't be surprised if they do try to get him back, even though they have Dampier and Foyle as their centers.

    Great post VOR.

This was a no-lose situation. What did all these crybabies want the Rockets to do with the 3.25 mill? Donate it to charity? At this point, the only other guy worth a damn is Anthony Mason. I would have been happy with him, like I am with Jackson.

Potentially, Jackson could have made 6 mill or so per year, if the Luxury Tax wasn't a hanging cloud on most teams.

I don't see ANYTHING wrong with this move. The cap situation is unaffected, since we are over the cap anyway.

I guess these same people cry when the IRS sends them tax refunds.
