You should have gone to Snow's this morning......or at least Lockhart.

You might try Zimmerhanzel's Bar-B-Que in Smithville or Prause Meat Market
    in La Grange.

The City Meat Market in Giddings, TX right on 290 is awesome. I stop there every time I go to Austin.

Coincidentally, "Miss Tootsie", the little ol' lady that is the pit boss at Snow's ran the pits at City Meat Market for years.

If you go north about 20 miles from Bastrop to Elgin, you can also hit Louis Mueller's. I've never eaten there, but they're considered pretty damn good bbq by bbq lovers. Then you can just take 290 from there all the way to Houston.

Muellers is in Taylor, not Giddings. Meyer's is in Elgin and they are known for their sausage.

Dang, I was actually interested in hearing about bbq places in Bastrop but I guess this wasn't the thread for it. I figured the places in Lockhart, etc. had already been discussed to death but I guess not.

I don't know about restaurants, but some of the best sausage in Texas is made in Chappell Hill. I've bought it packaged, but I would guess that there's a barbecue place there to prove it.
