I would imagine that Naked Lunch was pretty controversial in it's time.

William S. Burroughs was the author

 

read anything and everything by Allan Ginsberg [sp?].

 

Anne Sexton, Sylvia Plath

both controversial in their time.

Kipling wrote a poem called the White Man's Burden, also controversial at the time

I found the poem clutchdream. It is by William Carlos Williams and it is highly controversial.
