OK, I need criticism ... and lots of it. I've been around here for a long time so I'm not posting this to drag a few clicks over to my site because I get enough traffic and I seriously don't expect any sales to result from this post. What I need is your opinion and mostly your criticism. Tell me what's wrong with my web site, what I should focus on, etc. This might not only be good for me, but also for others that have the same questions regarding how site visitors react to what is presented (and they can sit by and watch my site get fried without getting burnt themselves). Now, I don't need comments, like "great site, nice design" (although those are still appreciated). I need specifics like: I don't get what you're selling I get what your selling, but I wouldn't buy until it has x You didn't answer all my questions (then tell me which ones so I'll know) Too many choices on the order form Not enough choices on the order form The wrong choices on the order form This part was offensive, confusing, downright strange ... Oops, you're missing something important ... etc. If you're inclined to respond I certainly appreciate it. I get so frustrated when I get tons of traffic and downloads and few sales. I can guess where things go wrong (and I know where some of the problems are already, like all the products aren't finished yet), but it really helps to have things objectively pointed out. Thanks a bunch! Jamie www.vsoftdev.com
Personally, I don't like the sites that have a lot of info on one side or the other and then nothing in the middle. For instance, I need to scroll down a lot to see all of the info you have on the left (partners, resources, etc), while the middle is empty. Since most "useful" info is contained within the middle section of a site, you may have folks neglect to read everything on the left. I don't like the "flat controls" gif on the left side. It is too "busy" for me. It looks like it is not formatted correctly (although it is). The same with your "application solution" gif. Your "link to us" link doesn't work. Just my nits to pick.
I think you should shorten your frames on the left side. They're to wide, and it makes the page unbalanced. I can't speak for others, but it gets annoying having to constantly move the entire page to get it to fit on my screen.
great comments. personally, I prefer the simplicity of a site like joel on software , but I don't write, program, or market as well as he does. I probably will try to improve certain things based on comments, but what I really want to know is ... would you buy the software, does it get your attention, or does the design or other features of the site distract from what I'm trying to do (sell software). thanks guys.
Why is 30% (the whole bottom portion) just blue background? Perhaps if you would just move that advertisement at the bottom up a little bit, you could remove all that excess "nothing" at the bottom. ...... Hope this helped.
Great! Thanks guys. I get the feeling that the design is destracting from the objective. I'll work on it.
Too busy; too many clashing colors. Doesn't seem smooth or flowing. Feels like I'm at Hakmed's Used Computer Depot.
OK. I need some more feedback. I've reduced the colors and worked on a lot of the pages. I still have the left menu, but I reduced the overall width to fit 800x600 and I cut a lot of the graphics. Keep in mind this is a site targeting developers looking for development related tools. Later, as my products become more mature, I may target a more and more general audience. Does it work? Let me have it!
the Yellow and green really do not go together too well. the page seems a bit bare too. I dont know how you could remedy that. Also if you want to be considerd a serious buisness you need those cool pop up windows. . .
