Due to the fact that my current shoes won't remain tied (and thus create a safety hazard), I have been ordered to get some new shoes for my office job (no, I am not making this up). Although there's a part of me that wants to show up in some really hideous sneakers, I figure it's not worth the battle. Also, I've been meaning to get some new shoes for awhile. So recommendations - stores, brands, anything? This is an office job where I wear a shirt and dress pants every day, so I need black (or dark brown) dress/loafer type shoes. I also have really narrow feet, so any suggestion should keep that in mind. Thanks in advance.
For office work shoes you must get some ECCO's.. Kinda pricey but so worth it.. Shoes are ultra-comfortable and last a long time.. I've tried Bass,Birkenstock,Hush Puppies,Kenneth Cole,Nunn Bush but none can compete with Ecco's.. Now I heard Mephisto's are real good but I can't afford $300 on a pair of everyday work shoes.
I know some guys don't like 'em.....but just get a pair of dress/ankle boots....no strings to worry about. Of course the sophisticated kind......not the dirty-work kind a lot of people think of.
That's what I wear and love them (cough!), although the pair I have on now become untied at the drop of a hat.
You sound like a guy who doesn't really care. Someone who needs dress shoes, but doesn't necessarily want them. Will you enjoy a nice pair of good looking dress shoes? Probably not. So go to Katy Mills and pickup something on sale. Just make sure its in style.
i dont think he'd waste time starting a thread if he didnt care. He'd just walk into a store and buy the first thing he noticed. It sounds like his current shoes are so beat up they can't even stay tied, so perhaps the best thing would be to get some good quality shoes, since he seems to be the type that's not going to replace them anytime soon.
Well, tax-free weekend is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Maybe Macy's will have a sale. They usually have a coupon online or in the paper. I suggest the Macy's store brand / Alfani -- affordable, stylish.
Thanks for the replies. Some additional information.... My current shoes are Salvatore Ferragamo, and are now pretty comfortable (though they took a long time to break in). I have been double knotting them more recently, but forgot one day last week and apparently that was the last straw with the safety police at work (my company is fanatical about safety as it is a component of our bonuses). My main problem with shoes is that I have a super-narrow foot and an almost non-existent heel. So I typically have to buy shoes that are almost too small for me and stretch them out. Otherwise, they slip off my heel constantly, thus leading to some nasty blisters. Price range is probably around $200-300 - I want something nice and classic (I hate clothing shopping of any kind and probably won't do this again for at least 3 years).
Try Geox. I have a pair of loafers that never slip and I've been wearing them for probably around 8 or so years.
Wow... I buy Ecco's because they make a great shoe for an extra wide foot. Go figure! Maybe they also make a great shoe for an extra narrow foot??
I'm switching from Kenneth Cole to Cole Haan because they incorporate Nike Air in their soles...looking for more comfort from my dress shoes..think they run 100-150
Go with platform shoes with little fish tanks in them. I heard when you buy them that they come with this record. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_HhO_zZi-KA?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_HhO_zZi-KA?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
