No this is not a thread about getting laid, although if you have some surefire ways I would appreciate it. I am designing a new website and I'm trying to decide how much spacing I should put in between each line of text. Compare these two articles: Less Spacing More Spacing Do not look at the other design elements. Just based purely on spacing between the lines, which article is easier to read? If you don't like either spacing, can you provide a link to another site that does have the line spacing you prefer?
definitely less spacing. You're not grading papers - you don't need the extra space between the lines to put stuff.
You said not to look at the other design elements, but they do have an impact on the ease of reading the text. If the table column spacing was the same for both web pages, then you might have gotten different results. Since they are different, a person is forced to scroll the page much sooner which can be annoying to some people and cause a negative impression that is caused more by the column size difference rather than the line spacing difference. If you are going to test only the difference in line spacing, then use the same article rather than two different articles. The less variation between the two test cases......the better.
Ah... good point. Unfortunately, I don't have administrative control over those pages. Maybe I'll cook something up quickly on a free geocities page or something.
I think it depends. The more information, the less spacing. If it's just a paragraph or two, then more spacing.
Man, that's F*'d up that you have to come to ask US about what your design should be. Dude, just leave the spacing DEFAULT. Let the user figure out what he wants or give them a drop-down menu to make the spacing larger if this really has become that much of an issue. I am the lone "neither" vote right now. My example?
