This so called Rox fan bet me 200 bucks that at the end of that game Yao DIDN'T dunk on the Lakers to seal the win. I thought everybody knew that cuz it was the most watched game of the season, but apparently not. Can anybody uploaded a video or provide a link? Thanx.
But the game's biggest star was Francis, who made 12-of-21 shots, 6-of-8 3-pointers, 14-of-17 free throws and handed out 11 assists. He made a 3-pointer to force overtime, then made six foul shots in the extra session before finding Yao for a crucial dunk with 10.2 seconds remaining. http://www.nba.com/games/20030117/LALHOU/recap.html# Didn't see a pic, but at the top of the page it says, "Francis finds Yao: 56k | 300k," but I couldn't get it to work (assuming that was the dunk.)
Yeah, Francis was definitely the man that day. He torched LA the first half and then for the better part of the 3rd quarter and all of the 4th quarter, LA went to Kobe defensively on him. Steve took him to the rack several times and either got the jumper, layup, or dish to teammate. Kobe was working his tail off picking him up from the beginning of each posession and Kobe still couldn't contain him. If Stevie plays at that level for a season, this team will win 60+.
Yao-Shaq I was one of the best and most memorable games in Rockets history for me. Francis had the best game of his career with 44pts and 11asts, and it was ended with the best assist Steve has probably ever gotten - Yao's dunk! Tell your friend that everyone here at the BBS will back you up that the game definitely ended with Yao dunking.
While you're at it, you can probably get another 200 bucks out of the guy by betting him Hakeem hit a three at the end of the '95 Finals.
On that play, Steve drove into the lane, and hesitated, drawing Shaq out to play him. Steve then passed the ball to Yao, who was wide open standing under the basket. I guess it would be a matter of definition. Yao dunked, but he didn't dunk on anyone.
What was shaq thinking by the way?... how in the world did he think he could guard a point guard and leave a center alone.. SHAQ=IDIOT
Maybe, but there's some history there. Shaq knocked the Rockets out of the playoffs by blocking a point guard's shot. Can you name the current Rocket he did this to?
After that game, the Rockets went downhill faster than a bowling ball. They were like 27 and something and finished after that under .500.
well actually yao's dunk didn't technically end the game. after that we hacked a shaq and traded freethrows quite a few times. i think your friend might be trying to sucker 200 bucks from you on that technicality
Man, that game was great, and i remember after francis put that hesitation move to fool shaq and kobe, they were all complaining about double dribble or travel for the next few seconds when they could have possibly chucked it to fox for a 3.
