Brilliant Houston band. They were stars in Houston and eventually all over Texas. They opened for some big bands back in the day, and I think had a song on 90210 or something like it.

They had opportunities to make it bigger, but I think the singer was more into going to college and being a professional student rather than a music star.

They were a great three person band, with an incredibly under rated bass player. He was absolutely brilliant and incredible.

Their live shows were legendary. They used pots, pans, television sets, and other things in their performance. It was always a highlight during Guyana Punch (a song about the Jim Jones tragedy) when they would douse the audience with pitchers of kool-aid.

They were friends with Bruce from Record Rack and Numbers, and often gave an all ages show, and then a 21 and over show.

There were some solid solo albums as well.

To me the first albums were great, but by Moo it wasn't as fresh anymore. That album was still solid but not quite up to the original level. After that they weren't really groundbreaking anymore, and despite some good songs just weren't as inspirational. Shows they had were still fun and popular, but they eventually quit.

Wow...that's a shot to the past.

David Bean! And I loved their bass player.

Yeah, they were pretty big in Houston. More early '80s than late. But they had staying power because of the catchy songs like in the OP. We played them a lot at KTRU. I remember one college at Rice actually paid the big bucks for them to play a party.

They were big with HS and College kids.

I liked them, but never really sought them out to see. Definite unique, but somewhat overplayed at KTRU, if there is such a thing. :)

I wasn't born yet, but if I was I'm pretty sure I would have liked the band before any of you had heard of them.

I'm more curious why you are asking, VHB?

I think they were originally from Pearland or something thereabouts -- is that true?

I remember them well, and I got pretty sick of them when working at KTRU. But definitely a great live act and a unique sound, if a bit twee.

I was born in 2001, hence anything before then is uncool.

hmmmm, I remember Sprawl, Skatenigs, PlanetShock and not much else, other than the hippies at Last Concert: Highlanders and Carolyn Wonderland etc....

    Everybody remembers The Hunger. Club-tastic.

One of my favorite bands of all time, we saw them in concert numerous times, one time they opened for the Go Gos, we saw the Judys and left when the Go gos came on.

Guyana punch, Vacation in Tehran, just so many good songs....I have them all in MP3, ripped the vinyl years ago.....

Great memories of the early 80s.

Thanks -- I had never heard of the Hunger. Probably because I was stubbornly avoiding dance stuff at the time, and most drum machines. I was more Pain Teens / Mike Gunn kind of kid.
