I am planning a trip to Key West. So far I have taken a look at the flight costs, and that will run me about 272/ person... roughly around 600 total for two. My flight would be straight to Miami, I already have a car and Apartment where I will stay in Miami. From Miami I plan to drive to Key West but I am trying to find the right hotel (best deal), tours, and activities.

I have been once, and last time I went sailing, snorkeling, and kayaking through Dangers Charters. It was awesome! This time I want to do the same but looking to travel to the dry tortugas as well, for a tour.

The days I will be staying are from July 8 - 12, and I really want to use every deal I can find to get the best from what I will be spending, I am hoping to stay under 1500. I may possibly go over, but 1500 is my goal.

My girlfriend, suggested the first two nights we drive back and forth from Miami to Key West seeing as it is only 2.5 hours away, and the next two days we stay in a hotel at Key West. I know I will be spending much more for food, activities and buying random items.

I am looking for a good site for vacation Deals and Packages that can offer everything like Flight, Hotel, Restaurants. That way I can pay everything at once. Before I get myself into something like this, I wanted to know if anyone has purchased one of those vacation deals online, or if anyone has any advice as to what site I should purchase through.

    Thanks in Advance guys/gals!

We were in the Keys for Spring Break last year. We stayed in the Islamorada area, about halfway down the Keys and drove down to Key West for one day. First of all, the one road you can take is prone to bad backups, we saw several, and since there are no other options, you can get stuck. I would NOT recommend planning on driving back and forth from Miami.

There is a lot to see in the Keys besides just Key West, you might consider working your way down and spending a night midway on the way down, a night or two in Key West and a night on the way back.

If you are interested, we went diving with a great shop out of Islamorada, I can look up their info. Key West is worth more time than we gave it, but I would explore more of the Keys in addition.

You really need to take the poor roads into account, I promise you do not want to drive back and forth from Miami.

My family was mad at me because I would allow NO eating at chain restaurants. There are some great places to eat, talk to the locals and find some awesome seafood. All our experiences were wonderful.

We did two dives a day, except for the day we went to Key West, so did not do too much extra sightseeing. I will post the dive shop later.

Key West is so fun and colorful. You need to spend an evening watching the entertainment at Mallory Square (I think that is the right name).

The Keys are for people watching and eating and drinking. It is an incredibly laid back, fun place to visit. Take time to meet some locals and enjoy the lifestyle.

Agreed that you don't want to drive that highway every day. It takes quite a while. Hotels are expensive in Key West, though; like mentioned above, you could stay on another key one night.

We were only there for a short time and on a cheap budget; I remember taking a glass-bottom boat from Key Largo to a coral reef and otherwise just looking around.

I have done trip packages on expedia and similar sites (not to Key West); can save you money overall but look up the hotel on another source - find reviews online. Sometimes they give you a good deal overall but a cheap and downright scary motel. Probably won't happen in the tourist-friendly Key West though. (for those who have this happen to them in other places, you might even want to consider finding a separate hotel and paying for it on the side, not using the one they give you; might still save money overall)

Isnt key west a popular destination for gay people? If so, and you are not gay, you should definitely take that into consideration.

If you can get some other couples involved (which makes the price a bit more reasonable), I can't say enough good things about sunset key.

It's popular for gay people... and also for straight people. The people watching is indeed interesting, especially at night. You will see very unique individuals and, yes, all types of couples. Also, I heard a great band playing to an indifferent audience at a restaurant/bar who were watching a ball game; not sure if good music is normal here or if I just got lucky.
