Does he want to come to Houston? "In asking to be traded from a title contender, Artest cited the great seasons of two big scorers on bad teams – Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady. To Bird, who was scouting in Europe when Artest went public with his request, the idea must be unfathomable. " Linky Link
Sweet another writer saying were in the mix Where will Ron Play next? I know someone posted earlier this week what CD was saying about there not even thinking about getting him but when I finnaly heard a clip from 610 he was saying that he doesnt think he's coming here. Key word Think
Artest is saying that he wants to be a great scorer on a bad team, like Kobe. (I don't agree about the T-mac part) And Larry Bird can't believe it because Larry is a winner and just wants to win.
I really don't think he saying he wants to go to a bad team so he can pad his stats.. Anybody else can figure that paragraph?
He is saying that he doesn't mind going to a bad team. Take it in context with the two paragraphs beforehand: His ego has gotten in the way. He asked to be traded from a potential title contender (in Indiana). What are his reasons for wanting to be traded from a good team? He thinks he can still have a "great season" on a bad team like Kobe and Tracy did. This type of egocentric attitude is unfathomable to Bird.
Actually I think that's exactly what he's saying. Artest has already made it known that basketball isn't his number one priority, even when he came back, he said he was planning on retiring in 2-3 years. Artest is only getting paid 8M per season, he knows he can get a whole lot more and really wants the chance to prove he does. Unfortunately, when you cause as much trouble as he does, not a lot of teams are gonna be willing to spend 10-12M per year on him, too risky.
