My 1998 Toyota T-100 was shaking badly whenever the engine was idling (or going in reverse) and according to the dealer repair place I took it to, it needs a new fuel injector. They initially asked around $595 for the part and labor, but they've since offered to cut an additional $85 off this (as I had taken it to them just a week and a half before for the same problem and they had flushed the fuel injectors). Is this a reasonable price? If not, could anyone recommend a good Toyota repair place (preferably inner loop or near Kingwood) that could offer a better deal?
Often you can save a lot of money if you buy the part yourself and take it to an independent repair place for them to do the labor. I have actually had my mechanic tell me to go buy certain parts at O'Reilly's or HiLo because its about a quarter of the price they charge. My first google search of Camry Fuel injector's already found a set of 4 for $110. How much is the mechanic charging for the part? EDIT: Do you have an extended power train warranty? Wouldn't injectors fall under that if you did?
