My mom and dad are undecided between a ...........

    1) 2003 Red Pearl Mitsubishi Montero for $32,400 ( beige leather, sunroof, and dvd )

    OR

    2) Charcoal 2004 Nissan Armada for $37,200 ( granite leather, sunroof, dvd )

    - These are our final 2 choices
    - We go on family trips 2-4 times a year
    - We dont travel outside of katy a lot

Can you all please help my family and i decide which is the better buy, my dad likes the Montero and my mom likes the Armada? And Why?

    Thanks a lot:)

Dude, he's exactly right. It guzzles gas like we own Iraq and it takes up 1.27 lanes. Not to mention the rollover rate! Everything you could want in a domestic SUV and then some! The CRX Civic is the best model to go with, IMHO.

If you can, wait two years for the hybrids.

If you have to decide between those two, I vote the Nissan. I'm NOT a car expert, so take this with a grain of salt -- but various car writers on television have said that Nissan is kicking major butt right now with designs and value. I've never heard great things about Mitsubishi... but again, I'm not that into cars.

If you only go around Katy, why do you need an SUV? If you leave the environmental argument, think about finances. You could probably save $10000 and get a nicely loaded sedan. That's a nice chunk of change.

I'm sure your family's thought about it already, but it's always good to remind people that you don't always have to go into debt. :)

Tell your parents to go to hell. They need to get anything with an Infinity moniker on it.

Seriously, I will swear by nissan/infinity until the day any car of mine dies.:p

Which could be soon with the recalls Nissan's having on their engines. :D

... former Nissan lover... still loved my '97 Max.

Can't you just get a regular car and rent an SUV for the 2 trips that you take each year (assuming you even need an SUV for that)?

I think the Nissan gets much better ratings. I did research on the Montero and test drove one back in the summer. I didn't like it but that could be just personal taste. Your dad is going to be paying the bills and he likes it, so...

Btw...you could get a Toyota Highlander for a lot less. They drive pretty sweet.

Spend the extra $5,000 on the Nissan. Far superior product to Mitsubishi.

Nix both of them and go buy a Toyota 4Runner for the love of all that is holy with this world.

You can get an '04 loaded out Limited Edition for about $35,000

Dont forget my motto: 4Runner 4Life

I changed my mind...go buy the Honda Pilot. It's a sweet ride and still cheaper than the Nissan.

    Do it.

    Now.

Man, I love spending other peoples money.

The new Envoys with the retractable roof from the back are SWEET....and my wife got one last year, and it is BY FAR the smoothest riding SUV I have ever been in, and I have owned 4 SUVs to date...

Next one I get is going to be an Envoy...and the ZERO percent interest deal is awesome too.

Armadas rule. My parents have one and as they say, there is no subsitute for cubic inches. That truck has a ton of h.p. and could tow the Nimitz if neccessary. I towed my boat with it and it was superb. I told my Dad I felt it was a crime to use a truck that nice to haul our boat and then carry our smelly, fish-stank asses back to the old homestead after catching a mess of fish down on Mobile Bay. Mitsu's suck, except for the Evo.

Toyota is coming out with a hybrid version of their Highlander you might want to keep your eye on. They say it gets 600 miles to the tank.

Pilot if you need the 3rd row (seats 8 the the back row is tight), Highlander is a good option if you don't need that last row. The Pilot has a very strong v6 and gets excellent milage for a mid-sized SUV. Both ride and handle much better than the truck based SUVs, the only reason to go for a truck based on is if you are doing serious towing or are driving on completely unmaintained trails (the others are fine for most dirt roads, bad weather conditions, and mild off roading).

BTW--unless they are going to use 4WD a minivan is the better option. Highlander comes in both 4WD and front wheel drive, the Pilot is only 4WD.

I have a Pilot and love it.
