So my contract with T-Mobile is just about up and I was looking to upgrade my phone. Was in no real hurry until my current phone died on me. Now I like to text and I find predictive input rather annoying which is why I had the Nokia 6800 w/ the QWERTY keyboard. I would rather get something similar but unfortunately T-Mobile doesn't really have anything (Sidekick;s are too bulky and I don't really need all the features of a blackberry). The phone I'd really love to have is the Samsung SGH-D307 from Cingular. Now here comes the questions. Could I essentially buy that phone and get it unlocked (I asume I would have to) and if so could I take it to a T-Mobile retailer to get it unlocked? And if I do that what features would I miss if any, since its not a T-Mobile supported phone. The other route I've been contemplating is switching to Cingular, but I have a great plan at T-Mobile so I'm somewhat leary of this. How good is Cingular compared to T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless (I've also thought about getting the LG V). So I'm kind of in a pickle. I love T-Mobile's service and crazy good plans (I'm on the 29.99 w/ 300texts for 3.99), but Verizon and Cingular have better selection of phones and a better coverage area. So would it be worth it to take any of these two routes I've mentioned or should I just suck it up, stay with T-Mobile and get one of their current phones?
buy the phone you want from ebay, ask tmobile to credit your accnt for a few hunderd dollars instead of a new phone, sign a new contract with them, get the phone unlocked at harwin for a few dollars if it already isnt (should be, when bought off ebay), then use away, and pretty much anything you find in tmobile, youll be able to use in a cingular phone, even the web and tzones...
