So I'm goin to see Green Day Rock Opera in Berkeley on 9/8 at the Berkeley Repository.. Any idea on what the hell would i wear to this.. I know typically for a non rock opera thing you would wear a suit to this? T-Shirt and Jeans?... An where do we party after this ? We're staying in San Carlos the night of the concert... Also here is the link to the Opera

I would say ... do not plan to party in San Carlos! :)

In Berkeley, meh, there are no real clubs, per se, but there are a couple of nice beer-type bars. I kind of like the Jupiter, but I am probably like a million years older than you.

For the Rock Opera, especially green day, I would wear a button up shirt, very thin mod tie, and jeans with boots. (But that's just me. Heh.)

San Carlos is great -- just kind of slow and residential.

Yeah, I've never worn jeans with a tie, but it strikes me as something you're going to see at this show, particularly in Berkeley.

So give the Jupiter a try -- GREAT f*ing beer, and you can walk there, I think, from the venue.

there are no college skanks at berkeley.....they're all little nerd girls busy studying for next semester's exams...

from my days there, pretty much all the parties were in private houses or the frats/sororities...

btw, if you're gonna eat dinner before this event, then try zachary's:

Dark slacks and a nice shirt would probably be just fine. You could probably go in jeans (others probably will)... if you want to dress it up a little you could wear a jacket as well (no tie)....

People go to the symphony here in Houston in jeans.... not many but it happens...

+1.5 It is the bomb, and I miss it.

As for finding how do you say college skanks... yeah, I'm not allowed to know that anymore. Would have trouble at work and home now if I let myself even ponder...

Whatever you decide on, bring some WARM clothes. The last time I was there was for my brother's August wedding and we were freezing until early afternoon.

    Zachay's: meh.

you want Pizzaiolo., north oakland, which is basically Berkeley. in Berkeley itself, try Ceasar's on Shattuck.

First off I would call it the "Berkeley Rep" or "Berkeley Reperatory Theatre". "Berkeley Repository" sounds a funeral home or a Savings and Loan.

Agree with Jupiter, really good beer, but there are a lot of other good place too. If you are looking for college skanks, and yes there are, you might want to try some of the bars that the Fraternity Sorority crowd hit. Henry's, and Raleigh's and Kips are the ones I remember but there are several places that come and go that attract that type of crowd. If you aren't interested in that type of crowd there are some other good bars like The Triple Rock and Larry Blakes that are good. Larry Blakes gets some good Blues acts. One place that is father from campus but gets a pretty bohemian crowd is The Starry Plough.

Just wander up along Telegraph Ave. area south of campus and down Shattuck Ave. near campus and you will see lot of drinking establishments.

Pizza. Zachary's is good but for the true Berkeley experience you should have a slice at Blondies on Telegraph especially after having a few drinks.

And what to wear? If you are there on a Friday before a game or a Sat gameday don't wear a lot of red!

    GO BEARS!

As for restaurants, try Chez Panisse.

I was just there a couple months ago, and it was awesome... really good quality food.

Keep in mind you have to make reservations a month in advance for the cafe and a year in advance for the restaurant. Its also very pricy!

Do yourself a favor and stay in the city, and just take the BART out to Berkeley.
