DVDs have been around for FIVE years? Did you spend about 700 bucks on that bad boy?

Consumer electronics is definitely a "get what you pay for" industry. Sony will probably be the most expensive, but they have the best stuff. Since you want a multi-disc, I guess that price isn't a concern. My Friend has a Toshiba and it works great. My Sharp works great, with this minor glitch in which the audio comes out of sync periodically.

    Stay away from Emerson...

I've heard both good and bad from Apex, so they probably make good machines but have poor QA.

I just bought a Sony DVD player at Best Buy for $99. Prety sweet. It's got the digital audio outputs, s-video outputs and the composite outputs.

It's not a multi-disc changer but it's cheap and good.

I recently bought a Philips Progressive Scan for $100 at Best Buy.

Cool thing is you can hack it and make it region free.

OOHH I gotta look into that!!
I just bought a PS2 yesterday and a new Sony flat screen TV for my room.

SInce I only have a DVD player on my comouter, I thought the DVD player on the PS2 would be pretty awesome.

It's not the best, but at least I can play DVDs on a TV for once.

I soon realized it only plays DVDs and PS formatted discs.

    No problem, just I can't play CD's I burned.

I really should get an inexpensive DVD player. Off to ebay...

I have a CD/DVD player (Sony) that holds up to 200 CDs and DVDs. Component output and all that good stuff. Plus, it has an onscreen menu that you can use by labeling on your CDs/DVDs. There is a PS2 port in the front and you plug in a computer keyboard that is used to do all your labels.

Anyway, I am totally happy with it. I believe I bought it for about $285 and found the cheapest price through www.streetprices.com.

    Red,

Do you have the dvd player connected to a home theater system are a large tv? If so you may want to carefully choose the player. If not you can just buy any name brand player that is on sale.

PS, I hope my old toshiba doesnt die. Is around 4 years old and has treated me very well.
