In their seven-game series, The Warriors also made 34 more three-pointers than the Rockets. In Game 7, the Warriors made 18 three-pointers while the Rockets made only 6, according to NBC Sports Bay Area. How do you stop the warriors 3pt shot?
don't need to stop them. just need to outshoot them. maybe get ahold of the basketball magnets used by the lakers.
In the 2024-2025 season, NBA teams attempted an average of 37 threes and made 13.5 (36.5%) In that series: The Rockets attempted 28 threes per game and made 10.5 (skewed by Fred and the one Jalen game) (37.5%) The Warriors attempted 43 and made 15.4 (33.5%) The question is not 'how do you stop the Warriors at league average'. The question is why are your shooters not shooting? Fred took 62 3s and made .435. Jalen took 44 and made .295. Brooks took 29 and made .345. Jabari took 19 and made .455. Ime is a good coach. Ime did not coach the series well. Design some ways to get Jabari some of Jalen's looks and you might get the one win you needed. (Ain't even talking about free throws. Rockets had 6 players below 70% from the stripe. Damn.)
Yea the whole team was ice cold , still unbelievable they pushed them to 7 games. Mainly because of rebounding if I took a guess.
Going into a series teams try to take away option #1 and #2.....forcing others to beat them. Game #7 is an example of the series. 1Q (Warriors) Steph Curry 0 points (0-4 FG's) B Hield 8 points (3-3 FG's) 2Q (Warriors) Steph Curry 3 points (1-3 FG's) B Hield 14 points (5-6 FG's) _______ B. Hield opened up things for Steph Curry to take off in the second half. People criticize Jalen Green for getting 6 points in some game or two. 1Q Jalen Green got slightly over 7:43 minutes 2Q Green got slightly over 3:40 minutes Green had about 11 minutes in the first half while ending up with 30 minutes. Udoka went with defensive players and sat Green.....gave Green minutes after the game was getting out of control. Bari (12 mins) and Tari (16 mins) for the game. 3's > 2's (we brought a knife to a gun fight) Buddy Hield was only rated as one of the best 3-point shooters in the league while he was with the Pacers. Steph Curry averaged 24 points a game which is his average for reg season games. Jalen Green averaged 14 points a game which was about 7 points under his reg season avg. Others are expected to take up the slack. Otherwise you are not taking what the defense is giving you....end up forcing things. Like Harden when he had 13 turnovers in one game vs Warriors. (Game 5 in 2015)
Point #1: You need your best player to play like your best player, preferably your best player is playing better than their best player. Point #2: Yea, 3 points is more than 2 points. Take/make more 3 pointers also helps.
GS was 4th in 3pm in the regular season. Rockets were 22nd. I think them taking and making more threes than us was predictable. Especially since Adams was playing more in the double big lineup in the post season. The thing is GS didnt even shoot an unbelievable percentage. Its less about stopping them and more about the Rockets becoming at least a league average shooting team.
I think if you analyze the whole series it obscures what happened, ultimately it came down to one game and one particular set of matchups. The Rockets got too enamored with the double big in game 7 and it cost them. The Warriors had an elite zone buster hitting 9-11 from 3 in Hield , they didn't turn the ball over - that will defeat the double big on offense. On the other side, the Rockets couldn't generate enough offense out of the double big to compensate, particuarly when it came to 3 pointers. 18 3PA is too few. They were extremely indecisive in getting into sets. Adams did a lot of ball-handling. Sengun couldn't get it going with any type of efficiency. Basically it was just Amen "you go ahead & try to do something" barely keeping them in the game as it wore on. I don't acutally want to say it was just bad luck because the 18 3PA seems like a tactical mistake rather than shots just bad luck missing (like the 27 straight missed 3's in 2018). For example the previous game was very double-big heavy and they attempted 30 3 pointers. I haven't verified this but it seems like the Warriors conceded more possession in non-dangerous areas to Adams and Sengun it basically just ticked time of the clock and suffocated the Rockets offense.
What really cost them was Sengun coming up short down low all game and the Warriors allowed to foul. Even Adams had two or three defenders grabbing or shoving him at the same time if you go back and look at the video. Kerr and Warriors knew they had the game in the bag.
In their 7-game playoff series, the Warriors averaged 48.5 rebounds per game, while the Rockets averaged 45.4 rebounds per game Man o man? They beat us on the boards too? With two big centers?
This right here. If Ime and the assistants could prepare an offense game plan as good as they do for defense, we would be facing Twolves right now. We’re all discussing about who we wanna get and who we will send away as part of a big trade, but if we could just draw some more simplistic ball movement plays for our current roster, we could have won this series. No disrespect to the Warriors, but it was more us losing it than they won it.
No disagreement there. Way too many ISO and dribble out the clock possessions by Sengun or Fred with no cutting or movement.
The way you beat the Warriors is you send your 15th guy onto the court and have him upper cut Draymond in the nose. He takes his suspension, Draymond is out for the series and it's smooth sailing from there.
You might be doing a funny.... BUT this is exactly what Kerr told Donkey to do!! Wish we had a Laimbeer/Mahorn/Oakley type player to push back when we are being getting punk'd!! Spoiler: Put me in coach.... ....... ....... .......
You know who that guy is? Amen. You can tell he wants to throw down. If left to it he'd be more than happy to oblige Draymond with a swift ass whipping. He's got a bit of those crazy eyes which is why I see him as the Alpha on this team. I would love to see Amen and Ausar on this team and when one of these dudes starts that crap you know both those dudes would be up and ready. Stone, please, Jalen out Ausar in. What the Rockets ultimately need is 10 dogs on this roster. Guys who just get into the attack mode as soon as the going gets tough. We have a few but not enough.
Dillon Brooks was not doing a good job on the perimeter. Thats why Buddy Hield got so man wide open shots. Also Draymond hit a bunch of those and we will live with Draymond hitting threes. Their role players hit shots and our role players missed shots. Our offense also couldn't generate open looks because of how stagnant our shooting guard was. Warriors just blitzed Fred and stopped doubling Jalen or Sengun. Limiting the warriors to only 18 made threes is reasonable defense against a team that primarily relies on three point shooting.
