I was watching the sports tonite (ch 26, I think) and they did a piece on Olajuwon's camp for big men. All Nigerian. Okafor was there, but the one that stood out to me was Ndudi Ebi. Olajuwon was very praiseful about him. He said "He wasn't ready when Miiny took him in first round couple of years ago, but he was ready now". Now on camera Ebi was about the same size as Olajuwon, but i don't think as heavy. He was working post up moves with Hakeem, but I am not sure what position he would play in the league. Perhaps 2-3, I think. Do you think he would be worth a vet's minimum to try and reclaim this HS phenom from the scrap heap. Seem's like a project of this quality is worth a gamble if Olajuwon thinks he is ready. Just asking. p.s. Forgot to say. Hakeem also thought he was very savvy, said he would teach him something new one day and the next day he was doing it.
Ndubi Ebi is from houston also i believe, he was on Minnesota's roster last year they wanted to place him in the NBDL but he wasnt able to so they just cut him from the roster... he is 6'9 but i'm not sure what his physical build looks like so I do know he is a beast (as in he is very atheletically gifted) he will end up on a team this season if not he'll be in Europe.
Michael Jordan said Darius Miles was ready when he came into the league. I think Ebi is worth a tryout and maybe Ryan Bowen's spot on the team. I think he should be out to prove something now and Hakeem is a nice source to back him up. For the vet min? Why not.
Ebi is trash. He scrubbed out at the Fonde. Also he almost got into with my boy and the bouncer at Shadow bar the other night.
I played Ebi my senior year in HS. Fun to say Ive played against some NBA talent... But honestly, he didnt do much. It was his roided up teammates that held that team together. Didnt impress me then, havent seen anything since to impress me now. I guess he has the size coupled with athleticism? And he needs to be at the Olajuwon camp. Because for a big guy he had NO post game. And I know what you are thinking... Im bashing a HS player? However he got picked out of HS. K. Perkins was legit. Eh whatever
2/3? He should learn how to dribble. 3/4? He's about 200 pounds, he'll get murdered under the bucket. He got picked for his weakside shotblocking in an All-Star game and insane hype from draft websites...what else has he showed or done?
You talk about coming back from the dead. Why didn't he play in summer league if he's ready? I say forget him. Ebi is just another loser with a sorry attitude. I love Dream, but it's very hard for me to believe Ebi is ready for the NBA. Let him play in Europe for a year and then play summer league to prove he can conduct himself like a professional.
Ndudi made me mad when he decided to go to the pros. He was suppose to go to my alma mater (Arizona). he was obviously not NBA ready and lute could have really helped his game
And Ewing becomes our backup C. Therefore leading to: LucasIII Vspan Ebi Ewing Mutombo T-Mac asks for trade, Yao Ming benched in favor or Ewing, Snyder in the doghouse, Battier comes off the bench for Ebi, Head is released to make a spot for Ebi, Juwan gets a month for stealing shades. Again I will say NO, NO, NO!!!
he has the potential to be a rotation player if he can bulk up alittle and develop a better shot....he's one of those guys that should have went to college and developed his game first....i think sitting 3 yrs on the bench really hurt him mentally....it'll take alot to get him to the point of contributing on a daily basis.
Say no to Ebi. We'd have to run Yao high in the post so there's room for Ebi to make plays. No way he's going to get any PT as a posting SF on this team. We need shooters, and if I remember correctly, Ebi really wan't a long-distance threat. So sorry, no tortilla.
I was pretty high on ebi coming out of high school but i felt he should have gone to arizona at the very least for a year, which is why i am happy about the new age rule which can only help the league imo. the only way i would say get ebi is if he can work on his game overseas and become an otis thorpe like player off the bench. (not put up the same numbers but play the same style effectively even if its for only 15-20 min/game) as much as i worship dream and i am sure what he is saying is true that ebi has improved but its one thing to play at a camp one on one and be successfull and another thing to play with a team in a structured system
