    Tom Penders to sign

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=5017193

HOUSTON -- According to local media reports, Houston basketball coach Tom Penders plans to resign.

Citing unidentified sources, KRIV-TV and The Houston Chronicle, reported Penders' decision to step down came after a meeting Sunday with athletic director Mack Rhoades. The newspaper and the television station reported Penders will announce his resignation Monday.

Houston reached the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1992, but lost to Maryland 89-77 in the first round of the Midwest Regional on Friday night.

The 64-year-old Penders was 121-77 in six seasons at Houston. In more than 30 years as a head coach, including stints at Texas, Rhode Island, George Washington, Fordham and Columbia, Penders has won 648 games.

Can't tell if you're pro-Penders or anti-UH, but either way, nice troll.

Give us BCG or Merlin and we'll be happy.

P.S. Wrong forum & already posted

I can't tell if you're being serious. If you don't **** about the situation.

If a coach can't recruit around his own talented city then there's something wrong with him.

So are you anti penders or pro penders? As said before, with all this talent in Houston and him having trouble recruiting locally, I'm glad he's stepping down.

I'd like to see BCG get another shot. He's a workaholic, and turned both the A&M and UTEP programs around. He won a WAC Championship at UTEP, and he finished his last regular season at A&M in the top-10. He's a proven winner.

He struggled at Kentucky (even though he did recruit both Patrick Patterson and Darius Miller to UK), and he's had some troubles with the law, but he deserves another shot. I hope to see him on the UH sideline next season.

UH was mediocre this year. They just went on a run in the conference tourney, it happens sometimes.
