Has anyone checked out this channel's programming yet. Any good?

NBC re-branded the Vs. channel to create this one, I believe. I stumbled across it last night and watched about 10 minutes of NFL coverage. I'm going to try and tune in more often if it's not terrible, just to supplement ESPN.

they have nhl, mls and nfl contracts, it will take them at least 3 years to rival espn on all other aspects

i watched the launch on nbc before the outdoor hockey game it was an impressive montage

Anything to put a dent in ESPN's dominance is good by me.

NBC Sports launch this year is all about the summer 2012 London Olympics.

I checked out the debut, which I think was 1/2/12. I like Sports Talk, and I think they could rival ESPN in a few years. Since they're new and lack many contracts with major sports leagues, they show a lot of wilderness/fishing programming, which ain't my thing. I hope they can get a contract with MLB next year. That would be a great start.

To make any kind of dent they will need to get into the bidding for the rights to some bigger ratings live sports programming.

    * NFL (upcoming expanded Thursday night package)
    * NBA (taking it away from ESPN or TNT)
    * College Football (Conference package not just Notre Dame) / Basketball.

Good luck to them. But ESPN is a giant.

Hope they start showing the more obscure sports on there in the future; they already showing that desert rally stuff which is interesting. NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB stuff is nice but lets mix it up. I can watch some badminton, track, ping pong, wrestling, and some curling.

anyone else excited for the Olympics!?

They don't have to do it all at once. I'm sure they'll be fine if they sit patiently and go in on one of those expiring TV contracts when the time is right.
I am shocked that they didn't get in on the UFC. I guess FOX and Fuel TV have it but it would have been a nice get for NBCSN to get the UFC at this point, imo.

I've been watching the programming for the past few months prior to the transition. The NFL and NHL coverage has been solid.

Sportstalk as has been mentioned is better than Sportscenter.
NFL Turning point is a fantastic show.

CNBC Sportsbiz with Darren Rovell (and the VERY NICE ;) Erin Sharoni) is a nice show for those interested in the business side of sports.
