Come on , wasn't that great. Ok , so Steve got fouled out at the last unmeaningful minute, but I think NBC said something to the refs before the game like "keep Francis in the game, he's exciting$$$$$$" I've never seen the refs ignore 10 obvious flops by Stockton in a game - EVER! Like somebody pointed out here earlier- "Francis is so quick that half of the time Stockton tried to flop he'd flop the wrong way. Great!! It's about time that the Jazz get a lesson from a team that just plays better than them - WITHOUT CHEATING! gotta love them Rockets! ------------------ ROCKS "Key-Grip" of the S.F.B.W.C. and many more. ------------------
the NBC announcers were calling Stockton on his flops everytime. It was beautiful. ------------------
i liked it when stevie flopped, but my favorite play was when stockton got knocked over by wizars butt, and it wasnt a flop another thing, nbc kept pointing out malones elbows, it was great. anyone see that nasty one he gave KT early on? sometimes i think they should pull up some big gigantic player from the cba to come in, kinda like a bodyguard, and screw with guys like malone, we got nothing to lose. ------------------ you are to be praised by gods and revered as women.
Heh, yeah, but I don't know how I feel about Steve's attempt to flop BACK. That's like joining the Dark Side. But it was pretty classic in that it totally exposed what was really going on to the three people who didn't know that Stockton has never been touched a day in his life. The fact that Steve wasn't as experienced a flopper as Stockton was hillarious. ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -
I was at the game so I didn't even know that the announcers were saying that. Jamma34-But I didn't see Steve flop at all, he was just good. was that a typo? Houston has tried to get Big people just to punish Malone and Shaq etc. but they just don't last if they dont have "The Shot". Stanley Roberts, 2 sammiches, Big Dawg etc. But I hear ya. ROCKS ------------------
Oh my God, that was so cute when Steve tried that flop. It was like watching a baby bird trying to fly for the first time. ------------------
I don't know about the rest of you, but I was just happy to see the Jazz getting called for their usual dirty BS that they never get called for, and it just happened to be when they're playing us. Today I felt like there was justice in the NBA. I know, I know, it'll all disappear tomorrow, but today the Jazz got called, and I loved it. That's the way games ought to be reffed - fairly (seemingly a new word in their vocabulary), but it's been a long time coming. ------------------
I was listening to the game on the radio , and there was apparently some sort of problem in the 3rd quarter where Sloan was really going ape sh*t. Gene then started to say how Sloan can't gripe because they have the dirtiest player in history....the Mailman. My point being, I have no idea what went on because they went to do station identification and it wasn't addressed after they returned. Can somebody tell me what happened. ------------------
Hey, guys! It's the reality: Francis is better player than Stockton!!!!!! But it makes me happy there are some announcer in the CBS who realized this fact. ------------------ Peter Komlosi, alias KP. Student of Information Technology University of Veszprem, Hungary komlosip@szamtech1.szt.vein.hu
That was when Sloan got called for the T. The rockets were flying towards the basket, and the wizard (I think) hit Flopton and Flopton went flying. Then Flopton started b****ing and someone on the Jazz got a T, and the Rockets were all laughing, and that's when Sloan screamed something to get a T called on him. Classic, but too bad there weren't any ejections.(of jazzboys) ------------------ [This message has been edited by Houston Rocks (edited April 10, 2000).]
Sorry: NBC, not CBS. ------------------ Peter Komlosi, alias KP. Student of Information Technology University of Veszprem, Hungary komlosip@szamtech1.szt.vein.hu
"The rebound goes to Stockton, who got away with a shove in the back . . ." We all saw and heard what happened yesterday. NBC, the NBA, and the referees like Steve Francis. He's going to get lots of favoritism on the court and in the broadcasting booth, and it's going to kill all the people on this BBS whose egos are invested in the age-old persecution complex about Houston sports teams. It's called the Francis Rules, people. Relax and enjoy it.
Also, major props to Kenny Thomas for sticking up to Karla like that. I don't care if he was ejected, that was great when he pushed him away like that. ------------------ STOP and POP
A few things... 1.) I am ecstatic that we beat the hated Jazz. 2.) I did not like the 'flop' attempt by Francis. 3.) We should not get all happy about our 23 yr old Francis barely outplaying the 38 yr old Stockton. I wouldn't exactly call Francis' 26 pts, 7 ast, 5 reb, 0 stl, 2 TO performance an arse-whoopin' compared to Stockton's 23 pts, 7 ast, 3 reb, 1 stl, 3 TO performance. I mean seriously, if the tables were turned, would ya'll be all that impressed with Francis' effort against your aging PG? ------------------------------ Okay enough wrist slapping. I have been as excited as anyone over the three extremely big victories over not just winning teams, not just playoff teams, but against nemisis type teams. Wow, it has been sweet. If anyone out there thinks that this team it more than just one quality free agent away from being a serious playoff contender, I hope you're not Les Alexander. Just imagine what this team could do with a quality starter at any of the three frontcourt positions... Sure we need solid role players to compliment our guard trio, but we also need one quality post player (IMHO) to give our guards some help from inside the paint. A rebounding machine at the PF, a strong intimidating presence at the Center position, or a athletic Tracy McGrady type player at the SF, would improve this team leaps and bounds. Of course as with any team, and probably moreso with a young team as ours, they would need time to play together and learn each other's strengths, but dangit if I ain't fired up about this offseason and next season already. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.
jamma34: Excuse me for being a little old school, but I don't see what's so "favorite play" about a 38 year old man getting the wind knocked out of him. I have no problem with booing the opposition, but let's just remember that these are human beings...they experience pain as well. I know it's all part of the game and Wizard meant no real harm, but I think it's really distasteful to cheer it on. The poor old man was on the ground gasping for breath. Let's just remember, off the court, John is a husband and father just like any of the rest of us are. ------------------ $42million. 7 years.
I think Stevie took a big step in the eyes of some national announcers on Sunday. And Will is absolutely right. Steve is going to be one of the guys people are going to hate because he is going to become a favorite. The old Rocket conspiracy theory is starting to crumble. ------------------ Live Rocketball. Breathe Rocketball. Die with Rocketball.
Dreamer- you don't seem to realize that our rookie played better than the best veteran , smartest pg in the league, and his team won. That Does matter. Cabbagepatch- you should quit feeling sorry for the guy that flops so much that nobody ever believes him if he says ouch. Kind of like the Boy who cried wolf. Will- I used to be on the bandwagon for "The curse against Houston", simply because it appeared to be true for so long. (What's up with the great Astros never advancing? and don't bring up the Oilers) But now that I saw a game against the Jazz actually had non-biased referees, and I know that a new era has begun. --------------- ROCKS "Key-Grip" of the S.F.B.W.C. and many more. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Houston Rocks (edited April 10, 2000).]
Stockton probably would not have had so many points if Cato would have stepped out and contested some of his wide open jumpers. The guy is supposed to be a shot blocker but he doesn't even try half the time. He just gives up. Maybe putting a hand up won't bother Malone too much, but you can sure as hell bet it would bother 6'1" John Stockton. It's very frustrating watching him and Thomas just stop playing defense at times. ------------------
ahhh... quit worrying about Stockton. His pulse is 53 in the middle of a game. This pasty gangster is not like the rest of us. If his athletic prowess doesn't convince you he's tough, look at those shorts, or those teeth. Pasty gangster is not like the rest of us. ------------------
That's sort of spooky, achebe... you make it sound like Stockton is straight out of the X-Files or something . ------------------
