This from their latest updated mock. How would you feel about this? Do you feel that Hayward is overhyped because of Butler's run in the tournament? Personally, I think it would be an awesome pick and that he wil develop into a star; however, it would overload us a little bit at the SF spot. Other moves would have to be made.
Their draft is more believable than others but I don't see us taking another SF. I love what Hayward did in the tourney though. I say their mock draft is more realistic than the Draftexpess one.
Haywood is a Morey kind of pick, but I think that even Morey, considering Yao's feet, will go for a backup center who has the ability to move up to starting center. My bet is that he will make a trade with the team that drafts Aldridge or Whiteside. Whiteside probably has more upside, but Aldridge IMO is the "system" kind of guy Morey likes. Forget Cousins -- he is not only too "expensive" to acquire but he also is one missed meds away from being Eddie Griffin.
I would hate this pick. Especially if Jan Vesely or Ekpe Udoh were still on the board. I just see Hayward's lack of athleticism as being a problem in the NBA.
Nbadraft isn't projecting that the Rockets will pick Hayward. That is just who they rank as the #14th prospect in this draft.
Hello, Google: Updated: April 14, 2010, 6:56 PM ET Hayward to test NBA waters EmailPrintComments 41 Share 384 retweet108 Associated Press INDIANAPOLIS -- Gordon Hayward couldn't quite say no to the NBA's money. He still hasn't said goodbye to his Butler teammates, either. Hayward The 6-foot-9 sophomore spent Wednesday afternoon telling Bulldogs players and coaches that he would enter the NBA draft while retaining his option of returning to the school he nearly led to a national championship. Hayward has until May 8 to withdraw his name from the draft. He is projected to go in the top 15 picks and would become the first Butler player selected in the first round. "I have decided to declare for this June's NBA draft," Hayward said in a statement released by the school. "At the present time, I have not signed with an agent. I'm looking forward to further exploring my options in the NBA, while finishing this semester strongly in the classroom."
I was impressed with his tournament, but I'm not sure he's any better than, say, Maarty Leunen. Nice player, though. I wouldn't be disappointed to see him on our SL roster.
I could see the Rockets getting him if they bought or traded for another pick in the draft. He may have problems defensively, but he moves without ball, shoots a lot of FTs, quick release, and has potential for being dynamite from 3 point line.
Some of these posts really make me wonder. I've watched a whole lot of Gordon Hayward, and always came away very impressed with his athleticism and explosiveness. Whether he's physical enough is a legit question, and he definitely needs to fill out... but I have no doubt that he has the speed and athleticism to be a quality NBA player.
I worry about Gordon Hayward and Stephen Curry getting into a slap fight in the sandbox over controlling powers of the Tonka Truck.
Mike Dunleavy Jr. 2.0 That said, I'm not entirely opposed to the idea. I just think this is the draft to collect a stud big man.
