I know it doesn't mean anything yet until they plays, but WOW! Rockets got the only A+ in that grades.

Also got an A from Chad Ford.

Though, only Rockets, Jazz, and Lakers have been graded so far.

Foxsports write up the same as nbadraft

    Houston Rockets

Picks: (32nd) Jermaine Taylor (via Washington), (34th) Sergio Llull (via Denver), (44th) Chase Budinger (via Detroit)
Analysis: The team with no picks of its own made a major splash in the second round. The Rockets got two ready-to-play wings and a nice project point for three cash packages and a future second-rounder. Three possible first-round talents in the second round, that's called great maneuvering, especially in the Budinger steal.
    Grade: A

When was the last time the Rockets got this high a grade in the draft? It may mean nothing but to get that grade when at the start of the draft they did not have a single pick. Thanks Les for spending and Morey for making what seems as great picks. Hope they do make it to the team by November.

Interesting how the NBA values 2nd round picks as being worth more than low 1st round ones, due to the lack of guaranteed money. I bet we could have gotten low 1sts cheaper than these 2nd rounders.

DM paid more for the picks than we'll be paying these players, assuming they make it at all.

I'm giving an A as well.
all you whining babies should stop crying and be realistic.
Rockets go out and grab 2 players that could be in 1st round and 1 player stash in Euro with high potential. Remember , we had no picks to begin with.

Morey get his reputation by draft carefully and trade cautiously, but by acting like Steve Kerr and Mark Cuban, OK?

Do these picks really warrant these high marks, or have the Rockets developed a reputation of knowing what's up the last couple offseasons?

well, logically do you think a team with no clue about what they are doing will spend this much money in a single round to buy 3 picks? It's either they are totally clueless or this is a well targeted draft. I'm leaning toward the latter one for now.

... the difference was also guaranteed contract money.

I only wish we could have also fished out Ty Lawson.

Well if one of the 3 picks makes the playing rotation it's a good draft.

3 guy who were all considered to be late 1st round picks in a draft that was so loaded with mediocre talent means, any of these guys would have been just as likely to be selected in a late 1st round pick.

    Solid crap shoots!!!

Bustinger is a steal at 44. Other higher than 30's, would have been a major bust; Taylor is solid. Llull is simply a prospect like 20 other players.

The Nuggets traded the future first rounder owed to them by the Bobcats. The could end up being a late lottery (depending on the protection of the pick) or at worst mid-first rounder, likely higher than the #18 pick, which is where Lawson was taken.

The Rockets did not have any trade assets that could compete with that offer (I think the #18 pick was slightly out of the "straight $3M cash" range), unless you wanted them to trade Brooks or Lowry for the pick. I'd much rather have both those guys than Lawson. Especially if the Rockets want to contend for a title next year.
