Check out the vid. The Baron Davis dunk on AK47 looks 100% real to life, minus the thousands of yellow shirts on the fans. <embed id="mymovie" width="432" height="355" flashvars="paramsURI=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Egamespot%2Ecom%2Fpages%2Fvideo%5Fplayer%2Fproteus%5Fxml%2Ephp%3Fadseg%3D%26adgrp%3D%26sid%3D6178003%26pid%3D939852%26mb%3D%26nc%3D1188612406609%26embedded%3D1%26showWatermark%3D0%26autoPlay%3D0" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" quality="high" name="mymovie" src="http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/cne_flash/production/media_player/proteus/gs/proteus_embed.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"/> You can also see Dirk shooting over Scola, towards the end.
Impressive Dunk system has been revamped. Look at the Vince Carter alley-hoop, amazingly fluid and momentum can be felt for the first time. Same goes for the last highlight with LBJ throwing it down. Also the dribble/crossover looks tight with nice animations bridged together instead of start/stop jerky motion they had before. Overall looks very good but not enough to purchase if you already have 2K7 on the 360 like me. Nice rental for a few weeks for me.
Gonna have to get that one too....dang ......so many games to play...so little time. I am still rocking at Fifa World Cup.....been the number 1 player in the world all week. WOOT ! DD
Are you kidding? Its a major upgrade from 2K7. You can't really tell how different the gameplay is in the trailer. They completely revamped the CPU AI to make it smarter on defense and offense. The gameplay itself is vastly improved, which is the most important part. The post game, isomotion and everything else has been tweaked to work better. Not to mention the improved "Association" which severely lacked last version.
Whats your gamertag? Ill add you as a friend and we'll get a game on when it comes out. BTW Im a SIM player, hope you are too. If not, nevermind.
Nope it's not. I have 2K7 on my 360 and I love that game but I don't see the point in upgrading unless someone is switching over from last gen hardware like PS2 or Xbox. Yes the changes are nice but too subtle to even notice. Improved animations and better graphics as far as you can tell from the trailer. As for all the other gameplay stuff like AI and isomotion. I can't tell until I play the game because I don't buy into what developers. Don't get me wrong 2K has the basketball game bar none. Live is no match for this series. It has been my favorite since 2k2. However from my point of view I don't feel the urge right now to go out and buy a better looking roster upgrade for what I already have and that's all. I will rent it and see if there are enough major improvements before I drop 60 bucks on this thing. Madden caught me already with the hype this year and I won't be fooled again by another sports game until I play it.
No offense, but this is probably par for the course for sports games. No yearly release is going to see really drastic changes from one year to the next. Most sports gamers recognize that, and that you have to really identify what does change and how it effects gameplay. And then of course you have the updated rosters, uniforms, ratings, etc. I don't know if you're really going to find a huge change in most titles, whether they be from EA, 2K, etc. Like you mentioned Madden; maybe minor changes in the big picture but those minor ones make it a much different game from last season, and a much improved one. But if you are looking for major across the board changes...well, that's not going to happen.
Bought 2k6, 2k7, and going for 2k8. The only change needed now is the stupid passing. Tired of passing the ball off someone's back or having the opponent kick a bounce pass that should never happen. I love the fact that there is an "off the dribble" rating. That alone is reason enough for me to get the game.
Insider info They had a new passing system implemented, but they took it back out, and fixed the very thing you're talking about right here. For the guy woh says it's not much of an upgrade, be ready to apologize later. The guy who did the video trailer has a screen name online of momentousCeltic. He did a vid of his own from last year and its on you tube if you want to see it. Here is the link for the gametrailers one http://www.gametrailers.com/umwatcher.php?id=15318 anyhow, just wanted to clarify a couple of things... there are lots of changes made because its a new engine. Should be another momentous trailer coming real soon so keep your eyes open.
Yeah, isn't that the same guy that made those NBA 2K7 mixes with re-enactments of T-Mac's 13 in 33 and the T-Mac over Bradley retirement dunk? Anyways, it sounds good. Just by reading what folks who've played the build said, you can tell there a lots of upgrades. This isn't going to be just NBA 2K7 with a roster update. Remember, this is not EA folks.
