OK....it's becoming more evident that teams in the West are starting to tank games to get a better matchup in the 1st round.

Do you guys think Utah will tank their game tomorrow cause if they win and SA losses it'll be Utah/PHX, SA/Hou in the 1st round. I think all the teams in the west are salivating to play us in the 1st round.

Any other tanking scenerios for the remaining games?

It is funny, it sure looks like San Antonio and Houston are doing their best to get a favorable matchup.

If Utah lays down tomorrow you will know...but I doubt Sloan would do that.

It will be real telling if Manu, or Battier and Bjax rest.

Don't know about that....if you were Sloan would rather play the Suns or the Rockets in the 1st round?

I think homecourt is out of the equation right now...everyone wants us even if they don't have homecourt.

Absolutely correct. Unless Utah wants to play phoenix, they'll tank their next 2 games in order to play us.

But this also means HCA remains in our hands.

Tanking is an integral part of the game -- anyone who disagrees is an idiot, moron, and probably pathetic with low self esteem.

Utah will not tank tomorrow becuase they don't need to lose tomorrow to face us. But if they DO lose tomorrow, they guarantee that if they DO face us, they will NOT have home court advantage, and I'm sure that is pretty important to t hem.

Wrong!!! They win tomorrow and SA losses their final two games....Utah faces PHX in the 1st round.

To add to that, if Utah wants to play us in the best possible scenario for them, they will try their best to win tomorrow, and then bend over for San Antonio in the last game of the season to ensure that the Spurs finish ahead of us.

... This is all kind of ridiculous anyways. I don't think teams want to play us THAT badly.

SA losing their last two games is not very likely. Again, if Utah wanted this to happen, and they wanted to tank against someone, they can do it against SA in the last game of the season...

You know what's more crazy is....if Utah tanks tomorrow...do we tank against the Clippers cause if we don't and SA tanks their final 2...we get the 3rd seed.

All opponents are dangerous this season. The final results are also very unpredictable at this point. I don't think teams are trying to tank this season. What difference does it make if we play Utah, L.A., San Antonio, Phoenix, or Dallas in the first round? Do you know the one playoff team every Western team wants to play? US! On paper, we're the most vulnerable.

Tanking to get a more "favorable" match up is always a bad idea. You want to go into the playoffs with a winning attitude.

Tanking to get more ping pong ball is another story.

Too many variables. #3-6 seeds ivolve hou, uta, pho, sas.

If the Jazz tank tommorrow, the Rockets will be #3 seed (assume a win vs Clippers) and the Jazz will be #4.

The Suns can easily keep their #6 by losing their 2 games.

So, I dont know how will uta/pho & sas/hou happen as the OP suggests. You still never know where you end up.

btw, i dont know what's your evidence of tanking games for match ups. Every 1st round playoff matchups are tough.

Teams want to build momentum by winning games and carry the momentum into playoffs, not by tanking games. No WC teams now are playing particularly well. I dont see any intention from teams to tank at all.

Sitting out injured players and want them to be healthy in the playoffs is another matter.

I'm a basketball player.....I'm just assuming them tanking games and trying to be in Duncan's position and saying: "Would I rather play Shaq and Amare or Scola and Dikembe in the first round"

I'm sure both Pop and Duncan have discussed this scenario....you don't win championships by just saying f**k it we'll play whoever. A little stategy helps.

Unless that boast of being a player means you were a NBA player

I doubt very seriously you have any idea of what the pros are thinking...
