I've often heard reports and read quotes about how popular college BB was compared to the NBA and I wondered how that could be possible. Since we cant really identify with a team (unless we're Alumni) and the players since they change so often. what is it about college BB that makes it so popular? Is it the "thats my school" mentality or is there something about college ball (and watching teams play "team ball") that draws us to it? Or is it all hogwash and it doesnt even compare (in popularity) to the NBA. Your thoughts? J
There isn't any chance that College BB is more popular than the NBA except for a few regional places (North Carolina, Kentucky etc). The NCAA tournament gets a bunch of attention and ratings, but as a whole College BB isn't even close. Everytime I see one of those features in Sports Illustrated on individual states, the polls always show that people are bigger fans of pro sports than college.
