Sounds about right. I think Timmy, Lebron and T-Mac could all have slided into that 4-6 range anywhere.

The 2 biggest MVP mistakes, for lack of a better word, of the last 2 decades are both Hakeem and Shaq having only won 1 in their careers (Hakeem retired, Shaq won't be winning another MVP anytime soon).

Sure... but under the presmise that it should go to the best player on the best team, how can you fault any of the times Hakeem didn't win it?

93 - Barkley plays on the best team. Hell, Jordan still had a large claim to the award.
94 - Hakeem won... while playing one one of the best teams
95 - Hakeem's team had a mediocre regular season while Robinson's team had the best team in the West. Shaq also had a claim to the award.

Reward doesn't mean much anyways. Playoff MVP is the true MVP.

Sure but thats 82 games you are talking about. of course theyre important. Ask billups if he wouldnt like an MVP award, even tho he already has a finals mvp award

I'm not, but I have the gift of hindsight now, and can say, Shaq and Hakeem, as 2 of the top 5 centers of all time, should have more than 2 MVP seasons between them.

    I still think tmac should've been a top5 contender.

and imagine if Yao wasn't hurt. We'd have 2 players in the top 10. Now that's something.

AND I STILL CANT UNDERSTAND WHY DIRK WON..wtf..

T-Mac could even win that MVP but...He had had a terrible start of the season. You remember he had been struggling and he had scored about 19PPG. But than he exploded and was scoring about 30 and he carried us. Now we know that in the 1st half of the season he was not healthly at all. In season he had 24,6 PPG so look, if he would have all season as he had the 2nd half he would probably scored about 27. But that's not about only points. He was a perfect playmaker and it was really his good season and he showed he is a superstar.

After that season I think Tracy has a chance to maybe be the MVP of the next season...We'll see. Hopefully it will be better season for us

    95's record = trades, injuries

That list shows how biased some of the sports journalists are. What is Wade and O'neal doing up there??

like i said, when u have won, u get a reputation. o'neal will ALWAYS seem like to be a fixture in the MVP voting. kobe will ALWAYS make all-nba first team D. when in fact both don't deserve it.

that's why i truly want tmac and yao to win the whole thing so bad. tmac would then suddenly be recognized for his D also and yao be recognized among the greats

Regular season MVP is nice, playoff MVP is the real deal.

um, its the FINALS MVP. there is no such thing as a playoff MVP. and when u win the finals MVP, its for ur performance in the finals ONLY.

That is unbelievable Mac carried his team and finished with better records than Kobe and LeBron. I cannot stand these stupid awards they never get it right Ginobli isnt the sixth man when he did fit the qualifications and was only about a million times better than Barbosa? LeBron isnt even first team all nba? Tim Duncan is still voted on as a power forward when it is clear he is the center, he guards centers and the other teams center guards him.

    Stupid!!!!!!!!

Regardless of how it happened... it was a mediocre regular season... as was 96.

Of course the playoffs were tremendous... I was just hoping they wouldn't make a habit of making it tough on them in the playoffs.

again, tmac really didn't have that great of an offensive season. tmac got this recognition for his playmaking basically.

so hopefully after he trains hard this offseason and "regains" rather than improve b/c it's basic skill to him, he'll become the best offensive player, or at least on par w/ kobe again. he easily has the best playmaking skills of all the great scoring superstars.

so when he can score like he used to, even just 2 yrs ago, he'll be top 2-3 for MVP next yr
