I was told that the NBA is changing balls. Spalding will still be the official company, but the ball won't be leather anymore, and it looks very different from what is used today. It's supposed to be more slick, so more passes may be dropped and we could see more turnovers on street moves.
internationally this is the ball that a lot of leagues are using http://www.moltenusa.com/Detail.tpl?cart=1149998985674068&Cat1=Basketball&TextSearch=F&sku=BGL7
Yeah Julio, that's a good guess. I've been told that the ball is shown in the cover of the 2006 NBA Draft Guide.
As good as synthetic have gotten, I'm not supprised. Leather balls are way to inconsistent from ball to ball. I've two official nba balls and their weight are drastically different. Isn't the NBA the only league using a leather ball. Every one else uses a synthetic ball.
New Design Yeah, the ball used at the allstar game looks to be new design. According to the article, FG% also may decrease. Why the hell would the NBA even consider this change, if it's going to negatively impact NBA offenses? Edit: Are Hoops World links not allowed?
Nope. "The Rocket Guy" doesn't have such a good reputation around these parts. The next time one of his "insider" reports (ala, the Rockets WILL sign Latrell Spreewell) pans out will probably be the first time.
I've seen some of that guy's articles, absolutely SCARY when you make Vescey, Dupree, Simmons, etc. look like genuises.
Hmm, I know HoopsWorld isn't exactly a credible source, thus its blocked. But, decrease in FG%? Unbelievable. I want an NBA press release on this sheit ASAP.
