As long as Stern is still the commissioner I hope it slides even further. The nba is like the mob. Very shaddy stuff behind the scenes but no ones want to do anything about it.
I would be interested to see how much of this is related to the dropping of ticket prices, versus fewer people coming to the games. DD
With the induction of NBA TV and League Pass, I'm not surprised... I much prefer to watch it at home in my boxer shorts, beer, and cheetos...
This is just dumb. I think sports in general have tried so hard to just get the big business money and forgot about the little guys. Well, the big guys are hurting and the tickets for the little guys are too much, so people just spend the $189 and watch league pass. I can't speak for anyone else, but i make alot of money and still don't go to alot of games. Kids have school, wife, business, and other responsibilites. Also, even if a sellout is reported, but people don't show, that cause problems also. I can't remember the name, but someone said for every empty seat, the club loses like $200 dollars or so. When you factor in parking, hot dogs, beer, etc, then the team is missing more than most think.
Thats a little more than MLB. And MLB has rampant cheaters, congressional scandalous trials in front of the nation, no salary cap leading to lack of parity, more players on a team with hundreds more in its farm systems, and plenty back-room corruption on its own. Keeping in mind that an average MLB ticket is half the cost of an NBA ticket. A family can save up for a $30 ticket and maybe do that that once a month, then look at one set of $70 tickets and say forget it not doing that even once. NFL has the dirtiest grimiest live experience of them all with twice the ticket charge, and they're retaining their fan base. But its only 8 games and easier to plan for. I think there's more the kind of "LEbrAUN SUX, Stop Dancing!" type attitude toward the NBA than other sports. MLB fans respect their cheaters more than NBA fans respect their winners.

Gay's looking for a $50M extension. If the Grizzlies agree to that they will be working with the same payroll as this season which is under the cap for this year. They traded Q-Rich's expiring contract for Randolph. They're comfortable with their current payroll situation? Those 5 teams have no use for McGrady's expiring contract?
This financial information will be relevant in identifying possible destinations for T-Mac. Philly, Sac, Indiana seems to be in need of financial relief.
