[Seeing a random post about battier for commish made me think of this]

Who is likely to be Commish once Stern steps down?
As it stands now .. .if something were to happen . . . would that Stu Jackson?? [I hope not]

I figure Morey can work his way up but will Stern be around that long ;)

The other, more competent and well-spoken David of course.

    David Khan.

I feel selfish. I want Morey to be the Rockets Gm forever :(
So we can win Championchips and Rape other NBA GMs for their Lotto picks and/or prospects.

Stern has done a great job promoting the NBA as a business and I give him credit for that. But he should have stepped down several years ago. He's just been in the position too long and has grown arrogant with power and the success he's had. It's made him untouchable, which is a very bad thing.

I like the idea of a strong commissioner, but Stern is over the top. He acts too much like a condescending jerk.

One of the things I don't like about the NBA.

Not his fault, especially directly... but it's an interesting stat.

That's due to the nature of the NBA having only 10 players on the court at the same time. A superstar has such a big impact. Just look at the Lakers, had the Miami thing not happened they would have been guaranteed 3 more rings at least.

There's also the nature of games being best-of-7s in the playoffs, the better team almost always wins. Contrast that with NFL where one bum day could end your season in the superbowl.

Would the NBA be more profitable, if it did a sweet 16 single-elimination playoff format so that there are more upsets and no adjustments?

This guy has a power trip. He isnt relinquishing it anytime soon or until they make him or he can no longer go on. I have a feeling like a dictator when his reign is over? He will bequeath his position to his next in line kind of like a succession of his reign by his trained disciple. Someone he teaches all the tricks of the trade to.

The George Steinbrenner approach has been pretty successful though, and I';d guess a wooden box will be the only thing that takes him away from it too.

Jeff van gundy would be awesome. You won the championship, here you get the first pick in the draft.

I can't wait for the post stern era. I wish that time was now. Though he has globalized the game, his neglection that there is no such thing as star treatment in this league is basically slapping all of us fans in the face, ala slapsgiving. That mafioso has got to go.

I feel like the NBA is rigged, being the Mavs and Heat series a couple years ago. And the thing is none of the players can talk about or else they get fined.

He's been on the helm for MORE than a quarter century. That's crazy. they should have a limit for the term like the president.

Sure he's made the NBA International and turned it into big profit making business... but at the expense of the game. He molested then raped this game up the poopers.

Oh well... I hear soccer's a good alternative.
