    Anyone picked this up yet?

I was a big fan of Vol. 2 and I plan on getting Vol. 3..

but I just saw on EA's website that they did not add Hakeem Olajuwon to their roster of NBA Greats..

but they did add Rick Mahorn, Joe Dumars, and Spud Webb

That would actually be pretty neat if they hadn't made the character models so freakishly large.

That's actually a bad angle on the screen shot. The models are not like that in gameplay.

I'm torn. It's between the XBOX and Gamecube version for me; though I'd like the online options I probably wouldn't use them that much.

And it would be so freakin' awesome to talk sh*t with my friends when I dunk on them with Mario. LOL.

    Decisions, decisions...

im thinking of getting it since 1) i played the first two way too much, and the first one got me interested in the nba again. and 2) i have $50 to spend at FYE.

however, i can either get a new Street for $50 or get NBA ballers for $20 and eventually get street later for much cheaper. Has anyone played Ballers to say its worth getting for $20?

I guess it's worth $20. It got old pretty quick for me, but it's hard for me to get real into sports games unless I can play co-op with someone else (mainly my brother). It does start getting cool once you get to choose different things to build your own house.

Street V3 looks pretty good but, again, no way to play co-op through the main mode makes it a no buy for me.

I'm buying it today. I had the first one but not V2, so I'll probably really dig it.

People on Amazon are oohin' and aahin' about it

Bought it Wednesday for the X-Box. I will type a mini-review for you all.

I played the first two big time on PS2. I finished the career street mode 3 times for each game. So I am a big fan of the series. Overall, the game is good, yet it does take the game into different directions than the previous two did. Seems like there is more of a focus on tricks this time.

Graphics - The new look is a bit more cartoonish, yet looks alot better. The lighting on the night courts is amazing. The shadows cast on the courts, and spotting lighting from the overhead lighting is very realistic. The default camera is zoomed in alot closer and lowered a bit so the models are spotlighted even more than before. The players actually look solid this time, really look 3d.

Animations are more exaggerated than before. I kind of think that it takes away from the game. It just doesn't look like a real b-ball game now, whereas in years past, things were over the top, but they are taking it to the next level now it seems. One thing I really like is the one-handed 'cuff block' that Yao does now. He just grabs it out of the air and brings it down, sweet stuff.

Sound - Bobbito is back with alot more commentary, though they put a weird reverb on it for some reason. Again, following the 'over the top' theme of the graphics. The commentary is funny and just plain weird at times. One thing that got me going after a big block with Yao was when he said, "Stop in the name of Block, before you take a shot!!!". The soundtrack has alot of new rap tunes, but a couple of classics: "Jump Around (Pete Rock Remix)" and "Me, myself and I". During the gameplay, only the instrumentals play though. The new rap tunes are good, well most of them anyway. They are made by groups I have never heard of. Mostly underground stuff. The net sounds vary if you are using chain, cloth or plastic nets. No custom soundtracks in this game. Though I can understand why as the gameplay music is mixed as a DJ would mix the sounds.

Gameplay - THIS is the major difference in the game. Seems to me that EA has taken this game towards Tony Hawk territory. Meaning the tricks seem to be more integral to the game. Where as in Vol 2, just playing basic ball and throwing some tricks in every now and then could get you a win on any difficulty, Vol 3 makes tricks mandatory. I say that because now the gamebreaker is more powerful. The gamebreaker has to be manually done, using the "trick stick (right analog)", and as last year can be strung together using all 3 players on your team. It looks really impressive when done to it's fullest extent and can actually can result in 7 points for your team and -1 for the other. We are talking about about a 8 point swing in one play! Even if it is a regular +3/-1 gamebreaker, that can turn the tide of a game. As I am playing through the career mode, the teams with NBA players seem to pull off atleast a +4/-1 gamebreaker everytime.

Added to the game is the dunk contest as well. I absolutely suck at this as I am still getting it down. It seems alot better than the Live dunk contest, but a lil clunky right now. Maybe I will get it down later though. With that said, like the rest of the game the look of the contest is great still.

Like most EA Big games, every mode ties into each other. So if I play an exhibition game, the points I earn can be used to buy clothing, haircuts, kicks, and attributes for your created player. So I can see alot of people playing alot of exhibition to build up their player. Seeing how the game got really challenging, really fast I can see that being a good strategy.

If anyone has any questions, I can try to answer. My time with the game has been a bit limited though. I will play alot thsi weekend though. Overall, I give it a thumbs up, yet it is a different game than the previous two.

Is it worth $38? Its on sale at Fry's and I will be absolutely broke if I do buy it or should I wait till it goes on sale and maybe have a rebate, ala NFL Street 2?

I think it is worth 38 bucks, but like I said, I played the hell out of the first 2.

yeah...the game is addicting, especially since I played it for 6 hours today. There was nothing to do so I played and played. Actually, I like the game alot more that I have gotten used to it and my character is playing alot better.

yeh it's a pretty addicting game...takashi's back he's cool....but what's with these high flyers like Baron Davis, Desmond Mason, challenging my 5'8 character with a dunk rating of 40 to a Dunk Contest?

I absolutely love EVERYTHING about this game. The worst part about it is that it is so freaking addictive that I am ignoring everything school, girlfriend, everything (except Rockets of course.) Especially the street challenge where you create your own court, and character, and train him from streetballer to NBA player.

Also I used to stay on campus at UH in the new Bayou Oaks townhouses and to my estatic suprise I find that MacGregor Park is featured as one of the courts. Its right across the Bayou from where I stay. Me and my fraternity brothers ball there all the time. It just made the experience even better to be able to jam with T-Mac on a court that I actually play on regularly. This game is definitely worth the buy.

    Here is "The Mack"

I read somewhere that Kevin Garnett is ridiculously good in this game.
