    According to Charlotte Observer:
    "Schedule on way

The NBA schedule was released on July 29 last year, and the 2004-05 schedule is expected to come out about the same time.

All but two Eastern Conference teams will visit Charlotte twice. The other two and all Western teams will visit once."

I think the Rockets will open on national TV at home against the Spurs. The first national game will probably be a home Pistons game (for the ring ceremony like last seasons spurs/suns game).

My first week (national tv) schedule.

    Tuesday(tnt):cavs@pistons, wolves@lakers
    Wednesday(espn):spurs@rockets,blazers@kings
    Thursday(tnt):heat@bobcats, jazz@nuggets
    Friday(espn):rockets@mavs, lakers@suns

I think the marquee high-ratings games on Christmas on ABC will be:
    MInn@ Sacramento, then Miami@LAL

    yours?

Heat - Lakers or Heat - Rockets better be on tap for Christmas.

The Christmas night game will either be Rockets/Heat or Heat/Lakers. You can BANK on that.

My gut tells me Heat/Lakers is the main game with the early game being Rockets at Magic

Here are some matchups that will surely be on TV based on what happened in the offseason:

Rockets - Heat (2 games for sure)
    Lakers - Heat (2 games)
Jazz - Cavs (the one in Cleveland)
Cavs - Nuggets (probably 2 games)
Suns - Mavs (maybe 2 games in Dallas)
Nuggets - Nets (maybe 1 game)
    Rockets - Magic (2 games)

Here are some matchups based on past stories
    Mavs - Kings
    Lakers - Pistons
    Pacers - Pistons
    Rockets - Spurs
    Kings - Lakers
    Spurs - Lakers
    Warriors - Comets

note that..if a team takes on another team twice, they must play 1 time at their home, then the other time away..they cant both be at home..

I think the first week goes like this:

Ny vs. Orlando(that is how it is like every season in the beginning, and francis is a fan favorite)

I feel the rockets are taking on the spurs too, i wish we could play the first two not on national tv so we can see how we do then the third on nat'l tv, then rest 3 games away from it..then go on a national tv marathon..i dont want out national tv games to be games that we are learning how to cooperate..

i am eager to see the francis comeback and then the shaq, svg, wade vs. yao, jvg, and tmac

You gotta think our season will start out extremely slow in terms of games played with the two China games having an impact.

yea there is, but it hasnt been announced we will see in the new schedule...i know there is two games less ..like an 80 game schedule..

i think we take on everyone in our division 4 times, ouch

and then take on everyone else in our conference 4 times, except for four teams we only take on three times, and the east we take on every team two times, except for two teams we take on once..

let me do the math, before i do it..i want to mention that if you click the link on the original post, it brings you to a page where a lot of articles are listed, and in that little index i cant seem to find where they said july 29th and all..??

    for the math bit:

we take on memphis,no,sa,dallas 4x...that is 16 games, then we take on lal-4,lac-4,den-4,pho-4,sac-3,por-3,gs-3,sea-3,utah-4,minny-4...two teams i think we have to take on twice, so i RANDOMLY chose sac and por,gs/sea...that is 16 + 36= 52..that is for the west...now for the east...cha-2,bos-2,orl-2,mia-2,det-2,indy-2,mil-1,tor-1,phi-2,atl-2,chi-2,bos-2,ny-2,nj-2,cle-2...i again RANDOMLY chose just two teams that take us on ONCE...

    that is 52+28= 80games

    thats the way it goes:

we see our conference teams..4x, except two teams we face only 3 times

we see the EC teams 2x, except for two teams we see just once

I think, we need the schedule to verify

    Its 82 games.

    Example
There are 15 teams in conference . You play 10 teams 4 times and 4 teams 3 times. (40+12=52)
52 games vs. your own conference

    Then in the other conference
you play each of the 15 teams twice (30 games)
30 games vs. the other conference

    52+30=82

There are 5 teams in each division, 3 divisions each conference. How to pick the 4 teams in your conference that you play only 3 times? In stead of picking randomly, they can make those 4 your divisional rivals. In others words, you play the other 4 teams in your division 3 times, all other teams in your conference 4 times, and all teams in the other conference twice.

Makes sense. Makes easier to break ties among divisional rivals, It would help our record too. We had a losing divisional record last season.
