Didn't see another thread about this so lock if posted.

1)So what about this reduction in NBA teams? What do you think?

    2)What teams should go?

    3)Who stays?

4)Do you buy into the argument that the sixers should stay because they are a traditional team?

5)What if big country had been the man and steve francis decided to stay there? Perhaps they could have rattled off a few championships and it would be evil to say they should move from vancouver much less be axed. I wonder how much W-L should play into it?

    6) what about the players. Are you gonna be pissed when david stern rigs it to get chris paul to NY or LA? I mean what can we do with the players? how do we divide them? a lotto?

I don't know the answers to the other questions, but the answer to #5 is that there is no way that a Bryant Reeves-Steve Francis led team would have ever won a championship, much less a few. ;)

Just retract Greg Oden a few inches and there will be no need.

proper revenue sharing should be done prior to reduction of teams.

    LOL!

If Big Country and Francis were on the same team they would be lucky to just make the playoffs.

    Good question.
The Bucks and/or the Timberwolves are definitely the most likely to get the axe. But that would make the divisions uneven.

Maybe they should axe 6 teams to make it even.

    C: Milwaukee Bucks
    NW: Minnesota Timberwolves
    SW: Memphis Grizzlies
    SE: Charlotte Bobcats
    P: Sacramento Kings
    A: New Jersey Nets

Problem solved, we get a 24 team league. 6 playoff seeds per conference. :)

Who cares if some insignificant team goes, let's pick up the center &/or their allstar!

It was a joke but I'm just saying that big country was expected to be the man and very well could have been. If he had they could have won more games and perhaps the Grizzlies would be worth more, more likely to stay.I just wonder how much of keeping a team vs. axing them is based on their previous W-L?I feel like W-L skews it and we are talking about the future not the past.. I mean don't we expect San Antonio or Utah to potentially have some bad breaks and end up being bad for a few years? and if they are can a city like San Antonio or Salt Lake really support a bad team better than milwaukee or Atlanta? So shouldn't San Antonio or Salt Lake be on the chopping block before Milwaukee or Atlanta? Isn't it unfair to assume San Antonio and Utah will always be good?

Even with that said the teams to probably go would be New Orleans, memphis, minnesota, charlotte.

So what do we do with chris paul and kevin love? What is the fair way to distribute players? I say a lotto based on and possibly overall W-L with the teams that have lost the most in the last 20 years (of the teams that are left) getting the top pick...maybe the lose a few ping ping balls in the next 3 NBA drafts.. all I know is I am quitting watching if they gift chris paul to LA or NY

What about the players union I suppose we need to have a bigger salary cap as a peace offering for not having as many contracts?

What if it was your team? I say no to retraction. Players like Chuck Hayes would never have gotten a chance.

I say "no" to retraction, having many friends in Seattle and just seeing what all b-ball fans there have gone through (including their kids) when the Sonics left.

I'm open to the idea of contraction, but I don't think any team that has real history (i.e., has won a championship) should be contracted. That means the Bucks are here to stay.

I would have no problem eliminating the T-Wolves, Raptors, Bobcats, Grizzlies, or Hornets. Maybe even the Cavs or Clippers.

Clippers. No need for the NBA to have two teams playing in the same aena.

Did you really say that Steve Francis and Bryant Reeves could have rattled off a few championships? Thats the funniest thing I've heard all week. They would have been lucky to make the playoffs.

Though they should, not happening. They'd relocate the team to nearby Orange County. The very fact that they'd even be desired by another market keeps them in.
