I have to say that the Stanley Cup playoffs are more exciting to watch than the NBA playoffs. The games are more dramatic, anything can happen, home-ice advantage means nothing, upsets are not unusual, and sudden death OT. If anyone saw the 2 games that went into OT, you know what I mean. Minnesota, Toronto, and Vancouver forcing game 7. Tomorrow is going to be really interesting.
It's soccer on ice, dude. Get over it. I'm not watching Disney on ice. I'm not watching Sesame Street on ice. I'm not watching Tonya Harding on ice. I'm certainly not watching Soccer on ice. I've got no problem with Tanqueray on ice, though.
Honestly, as much as I *LOVE* the NBA, I totally agree. I like basketball more than hockey, but even with the Red Wings out (my fav. team), I still find the Stanley Cup playoffs to be exciting. Hockey reminds me of a great pitchers duel in baseball -- it's so exciting because every pitch is so crucial. Hockey is the same way -- each posession, each pass can become so crucial to the whole game. It's just such a tension-filled event. For the NBA playoffs, I'll start caring around the conference playoffs. Right now, with no Rockets in it, it's just a bunch of games.
I don't want to watch 5 overtimes everytime I turn on ESPN this time of year. Every single game is tied forever. Sure, it's exciting, but only for that moment when someone SCORES. For real, fast-paced, old school post-season entertainment, I watch the-- --NCAA Women's Gymanstics Championships.
Exactly who is having the fast paced action when you are watching this stuff? If this really turns you on, some Romanian gymnasts did their exercises nude for some movie, I remember the committees governing competition threatened to sanction the Romanian athletes and prevent them from competing or something a while back. The athleticism, speed and grace displayed in professional hockey is awesome. Haven't followed it since Houston lost the Aeros.
North Star, Did you call 610 AM this morning and say the same thing? What I thought was really entertaining was about 10 minutes after that call, Chance calls in and says about the same thing as Fatty Fat. For some unknown reason though, Chance was cut off before he could finish his call. Chance, how do you feel about the NBA playoffs vs. the NHL playoffs? B
I have no real rooting interests in either set of playoffs...that's probably a good test for what I find more exciting, with no Houston fan bias. I have watched...and will watch... FAR MORE NHL hockey playoffs than basketball playoffs.
That was hillarious. NHL playoffs are intense, but I get tired of all these NHL fans coming out every year and claiming their sport is more exciting than the NBA. Who gives a s**t. Do you guys have an inferiority complex. Its the same damn thing every year. Its Okay to watch Hockey. No one is going to look down on you.
I'm probably in the minority, but nothing beats NBA playoff basketball. Watching Iverson on Sunday just swish jumper after jumper on his way to a double-nickle was beautiful. When a player gets in a zone like that and starts to hit everything, it's beautiful to watch...
tell that to the Stars fans in Dallas...tell that to me, a 4th generation Texan, who, all things being equal, would much rather watch playoff hockey than playoff NBA right now. i'll readily admit, if the rockets were in the playoffs i wouldn't feel that way.
Agreed MadMax. Outside of Rockets' games, I've vastly enjoyed the NHL playoffs over the NBA's since 1994. I can't wait for Thursday. The Ducks are going down!!!!
i just can't do it...spent too many hours arguing sports with obnoxious dallas fans...i feel the same way about st. louis.
I've honestly found the Stars' fans to be much different for some reason. Maybe because I've never had a rival team to root for. However, I've rooted for the Stars ever since I started watching hockey, so I'm gonna do it here. I still hate the Mavericks and Cowboys with a passion. It's hard to hate the Rangers for some reason.
