I was wondering who on this MB has NBA Pass and is it worth it? I missed a lot of NBA games I wanted to see this season and almost wish I had NBA League Pass........anyone think its worth it to get into next season a little bit more?? thanks
It's definitely worth it. When you have access to every game you can watch other team's great players during the season and flip the channel to all the close games as well. Without League Pass all you get is Lakers/Wizards/Kings/Knicks on ABC/ESPN/TNT.
I ordered it this year, and I would say I didn't get my money's worth. Part of that has to do with the fact that the Rockets sucked this year, part of it has to do with Time Warner being the crappiest company on the planet, and part of it has to do with the fact that the regular season doesn't mean JACK in the NBA. I will definitely not bother with it next year, especially since I am looking forward to how ESPN might handle the broadcasts in the future. I think there will be more games televised in general next year. I will miss the 9:30 Clipper games, though.
Well considering we know whats gonna happen in the playoffs for the past few years with the Lakers...I would say the playoffs dont even really mean jack either.....
They were, but its unfortunate that the Lakers are gonna win another title....its almost makes me lose hope on the league. Where are all those teams like the Rockets who had tough clutch players like Maxwell, Elie, and Horry?? No teams seem to have that anymore (atleast if they do, they dont have the talent to surround these tough role players). The Lakers are the only team that has a few tough players, but Shaq and Kobe are the reason they get it done, even if their support doesnt help them as much as they should. This playoffs were great, but they would have been 10 times greater had the Kings won tonight.....
As a college student, even though I shared the cost of LP with friends, it was very expensive. One thing I neglected was the cost of maintaining digital cable. While digital cable doesn't look as expensive as regular standard cable on paper, the taxes, fees, and other programming costs add up quickly. But if you can afford it and love basketball then its definitely worth it. Will I get it again? Right now I'm leaning towards "no" because of the cost but I'll see what the Rockets do this offseason. I was pumped going into the 2002 season thinking we'd make the playoffs which would make it all worth it, but watching the team get knocked around night in night out sucked.
It's worth it. Playoffs are only 2 months out of 12... Regular season is half the year, why wait? If you can afford it, then it's well worth it. I'm not sure how the new TV deal with ESPN/ABC will effect what games will be shown.
It's worth it if you can manage to watch the East play and like it. And if you take pleasure watching the great Air Jordan lose.
Value and expense are personal value judgements. I am planning on subscribing to my 3rd LP season and have enjoyed it very much. My original goal was only to be able to watch the Rockets (you only get the Spurs in Austin). I'll admit that it has been great having the option to watch KG, Paul Pierce, McGrady, Dirk, Rasheed, SAR, Gasol & Battier, the Bulls' rookies, and to root against the Jazz. Too many matchups to list here. Almost an interesting matchup somewhere on any given night. It's also interesting to listen to other announcers and get a different viewpoint on the game in general and Rockets when we play them. I enjoy hearing Tommy Heinsohn, Walt Frazier, Bill Walton (Clippers commentator) and have even grown to appreciate Chick Hearn. My LP comes in via DIRECTV but I have heard that the there are some blackout restrictions if you use cable. Perhaps someone can verify the difference if it exists.
What exactly are the costs? Also how did you get league pass at college, currently I am in college now, in a building....so how could you get league pass unless you have a satalite? Or is it possible to get it without having a satelite?
Can someone please answer my post right above this one I really would like to know how to get digital cable and get NBA league Pass if I was in college building
Here are all the costs appro. IN the ABQ New Mexico area: DIGITIAL CABLE ALONE with one box is around 30 a month. 5 bucks extra for each add. BOX. NBA LEAGUE pass is 120 dollars. You have an option of paying in monthly intervals at $40.00 dollars a month for three months. Ive had it these past two seasons and I really like it in some ways. I wish sometimes you can pick the teams you want broadcasted and Only pay for those games, but thats not the case. Some Friday and Saturday Nights there were 12 games broadcasted. 8 of them going on at the same time. It's pretty crazy stuff. The only bad parts are: 1/ No pregame show.(just a 10 minute intro before the start) 2/NO post game show with interviews. Cool Features: We can see what type of snow blowers they got on sale at Home Depot in New England.
That's cheap UNMKT4. I was getting anally raped by Time Warner. Digital Cable: $47.02/mth Converter: $5.95/mth Navigator: $4.00/mth Taxes & Fees: A lot --- Bastards
So basically with digital cable I can get NBA LP without a satalite in a college dormitory?? And it will cost $30 a month plus whatever the NBA LP fee is??
Find out what cable system provides service to your dorm, and contact them about digital cable and LP. If the university contracts an operator like AT&T, Comcast, Cox, Time Warner etc., you are in luck. If the university provides its own cable service (ex. UT) then you are out of luck.
I'm like GATER and will being going into my 3rd. season with LP. I also live in Austin, and the Spurs DO black out almost everything. It's a trip to watch some of the other teams and see what all the buzz is about with certain players. Some of the other games are great, but I get it for the Rocks. If you get it early, you can save some $. Check into that. It cost me about what seeing one game in H-town would be (with the family!). Well worth it if it fits your budget.
I've had it since the introduction on directv and its the bomb. People who think calvin murphy is a homer, they need to listen to tommy heisohn of Boston. I pay 146 bucks even though it can be spread over 4 months. That and nfl ticket is a sportsman paradise.
Just wondering what everyone means when they say "Homer"...like when you said Calvin Murphy and Hensoin are "Homers". Does that mean they announce in an underdog and going crazy fashion? Basically someone who feels their team is the best or going all the way? Basically an optimist? Im I on the right track?
