Great read. Luc's BBIQ and game insights really shine here. Love reading articles like this with real depth from a player's perspective. Thanks for sharing.
We're 18-2 when Luc and CP are on the floor. One of the L's was without Harden (LAC). The other was by 2 (NOP).
I don't think either player will get those contracts at their ages. Ariza was coming off his best season as a Wizard, shooting 40% from downtown and averaging 14.4p/6r at 28 years old and still only got the MLE. I don't think he'll suddenly get a pay increase at 33 years old with lots of mileage. LMM was a starter and had a very similar year to this one statistically while shooting better. He had to settle for the minimum with us. His PER has dropped from 10.2 to 9.3. He's 31 now, not many teams have cap space, and all teams seem to be tightening the purse strings. I doubt these guys make more money than Lou Williams, who just extended for 3yr/$24M with the last year non-guaranteed. Hopefully, we'll be able to bring them back for cheap which would be great for us.
If we can bring them both back(assuming LeBron is staying in Cleveland or bolting for LA), then I'd like to do so. But if I had to choose one, I actually lean toward Luc. The Rockets have looked way better sans Ariza during his suspension and injury than they have when Luc was out with the injured shoulder.
I can see how you'd feel that way. We look very good with Luc on the floor. But we actually won the first three games Luc went out to extend our win streak to 14. It was Capela's injury, combined with CP3 going out again that made us look bad in December. Then Harden went out for seven games. It wasn't just Luc's injury that made us tumble. Our best players were out. The common factor of us looking great is that Harden, CP3, and Capela all play. Our record with all three of those guys playing is amazing.Trevor or Luc are interchangeable and I'd actually give the edge to Ariza.
