Guy's I've been debating whether or not I should get League pass this year. Is it really worth it and what happens during blackout games and playoff games?

Well, the Rockets are never in any playoff games, so you don't have to worry about that part...:(

I've had it during the promotional periods. They usually have 2 weeks for free. It's awesome. I remember watching Pau Gasol as a rookie. There are so many games almost every day.

Awesome! I may have to sign up for those promo things. I've been dying to get NBA League Pass for a while. Living in New England, it's almost impossible to see any Rockets games.

If your outside of Houston, specifically to watch Rox games, it's worth it...but you also get all the other games...I'll get it this year...

Otherwise, consider going to a sports bar every game night, spending $$$ on beer and food and smelling like smoke...You'll be saving so much $$$...

On second thougth, I like the food and beer part...;)

I tried it out for a couple of weeks. I thought it was great.

Be careful if you are playing Fantasy B-ball. It seemed I had a player in every game and I had to watch them all (like watching them would somehow change their stats).

My wife said I was ignoring the kids. I replied, "What kids?"

Needless to say, I was unable to convince her to extend for the whole season.

ESPN sportzone is a good place to catch game for free. No food has to be bought either. The best way is to get a ticket for the Mother "chairs" , but skip the hostess, and just sit yourself down. If you skip the hostess no waitress will serve you. They don't assign one to you. Once I even tried to wave down a waitress and she couldn't serve me. So now I just bring my own food and drink and watch any game I want using the motha chair.

If you get it, make sure you get the direct TV version. I think the rockets have 12 games this year on NBA TV. Those games aren't televised on digital cable. At least not here in Austin.

as someone else said, if you're getting it b/c your out of town and just wanna see all 82 rox games, it's great. i'd probably go into the 200's for it just for the rox. adding in all the other games is just icing on the cake.

now if you're in houston and just wanna watch the rest of the league, i definitely wouldn't find it worth it. i could get by on tnt/espn/abc for my other games instead of paying $160.

Are you serious? Crap. If that's true, I'm not gonna get it. I'm close enough that most of the Nugs games are on TV, but there's so many other games I wanted to watch. Plus NBA TV rocks.

I think that NBA TV is on Digital Cable this year.....at least I had heard that Time Warner had reached agreement and it would be on channel 910.

I hope you are right, because I'm not going through that BS this season. I'm not going to pay good money to have several of the best Rockets games "blacked out" by an NBA TV that was free before and suddenly wasn't... and at least halfway into the season.

I'm still steamed about it. This would be my 4th year with LP. I'll have to make sure Time Warner carries NBA TV or I'm done.

There are times I hate the NBA and their greedy, money grubbing corporate culture with a passion. Did I say I was still pissed off??

I love it. I get it to follow the Rockets but I nearly died last year watching their terrible level of play night in and night out. NBA TV is cool as well. About my only complaint aside from the pitiful basketball is that most of the Rockets games had the other team's broadcast crew. Worrell & Murphy were on very few of the Rockets games and I really would have loved to hear what they had to say when the Rox were stinking up the place.

Again, I agree with you 100%. I'd already prepared myself for the sacrifice this year unless the NBA came around. (Especially with the Rox being on so many times on nat TV anyway and the one or two free preview weeks they throw in).

I will inquire myself and publish what I find, but anyone that gets reliable word in Austin about this please post any information on this matter. DD, how did you get your information about NBA-TV returning to 910? I'd have hoped TimeWarner would have put it in a flyer or website or something. I guess it's too much to ask TW to get them to show NBATV HD - they don't even have ESPN in HD yet.

We need to find out about NBATV *for certain* before the $20 or so discount for early bird comes and goes (which is 11/4/03 I believe). It may or may not be shown during the free preview, but I'd rather not speculate based on that fact.

Does anyone here know how much nba league pass is for over the internet, for radio.

And can you get it for your computer and actually have it display on your moniter?

do the math. you get 1101 games for like 180 dollars. that's 17 cents a game or something. that's a steal. there is no cheaper entertainment of that level. for me though it wouldn't be worth getting this year bc i've moved back to houston.
