Anyone else having trouble with the new incarnation of this? I do fine in the first half but in the third quarter everything falls apart. Teammates won't go for alley-oops or rebounds, and the opposing team gets like 200 times more aggresive. It's like a more frustrating version of the "catch-up" feature on the sim games. The ****ing hot spot ruins this game. Oh, and the lack of difficulty settings... Maybe I just suck, but I don't recall any of the previous entries in this series being so cheap even on the most difficult settings. Are there any useful codes for the tournament modes?
Lol i didnt even know this game was out until a couple of days ago, when i went and purchased NBA Live 04, and i saw it on the shelf. The game must of not got promoted very well, cuz i didnt see any commercials for it.
Screw live. NBA Jam used to be THE bball game. Boomshakalaka. I haven't had the urge to play any of their games since TE though.
Hahaha...I remember that so well. I remember there was one in the student center below the bookstore at UH...I played that thing until my fingers hurt!!!
If I had the money back that I spent on NBA Jam and NBA Jam TE at the arcades...ughh...I don't want to think about it. It sure was fun, though- although getting beat on those computer-assisted, full court, last second shots felt a bit like jail rape.
The original jam used to be the only video game on the campus of my boarding school in England. It costs freakin two pounds for a full game. But we used to play that thing at all hours. We had a tournament all set up and it was the highlight of our lives. My favorite combos were Barkely and Thunder Dan and Mourning and LJ.
Ugh. Upon further evaluation, this game not only sucks, it blows as well. Real shame too, because the presentation is awesome, but one can only take so much of getting dominated by the mighty Utah Jazz. Apparently the cheat codes are unavailable for tournament mode, so you have to be a god with the controls to progress.
Yes I do. But it's odd how I can suck at this yet hold my own on the other entries in the series even on their highest difficulties. Hangtime on N64 was the funnest one for me. The Olajuwon/Drexler combo was awesome.
Okayyyyyy.... I figured it out. Blocks play a much much much smaller role than they do in NBA Street, so the best bet is to camp in the paint and go for steals. Much more balanced now.
EA's Street Hoops is the "new" NBA Jam. They have everything that the orginal NBA Jam had, and made it more sleak and fun to play. I'm sure you probably already have the game, but if you don't, it's an easy choice over NBA Jam. Hell, I think it is better than NBA 2k4 and NBA live 04.
I would like to clarify that its NBA Street, not to be confused with Activision's Street Hoops. Street Hoops has to be on of the EASIEST games ever created. I could make half court shots with east, absolute RIDICOLOUS!
Street 2 is freaking fun as hell. I like creating characters and maxing them out in particular areas and combining them. All of the dunks and crossovers are really enjoyable. And you aren't only trying to beat your opponent with points, but with your style score as well.
I really like the NBA Street series as well. I normally play it when I want an arcade style of play and the 2k series when I want to play a simulated type of play. I remember seeing a preview of Jam about a month or two ago. It looked pretty crazy, but not really good.
Original NBA Jam ruled. The big head code was funny, and you could play as any of the programmers. And I can't believe you guys played as Barkley, Mourning, etc. I almost always played the Rockets - I think Hakeem/Kenny Smith was the arcade version, with Hakeem/Maxwell on the Nintendo version. Either way, I was an unstoppable force.
jam te on the snes wasted too many hours for me. i think it was denver's mutumbo/chris jackson (or maybe abdul-rauf then) combo that i dominated with. dude never missed 3-pointers from the corner.
