anyone played this game for x-box yet? it came out today or yesterday i believe. it looks sweet as hell, probably the best b-ball game i've seen, but i don't know if it's worth a purchase. i love nba 2k2. none of the info i've read mention a franchise or create a player mode so that would be a pretty big spoiler.

    Anyone?

NBA 2K2 won't be coming out on Xbox till March. I'll probably end up renting Inside Drive then depending on whether I like it, I'll go to the mall to trade in Live 2002.

I just got ID 2002. There's no franchise or create a player.

The Rockets have everyone including Griffin, Brown, and Torres (who were left off Live 2002). I'm going to have to make some decisions on who to put my active roster.

Do you like the game? How is the defensive AI? I've been thinking about getting it but am aprehensive because it doesn't have a franchise mode.

is the gameplay as good as nba 2k2, if you can compare? i'm going on the basis that nothing can be as bad as nba live. also, are our rookies good in the game, can eddie shoot the 3?

I've played 2 games on veteran level (other levels are rookie and all-star). Here are my comments:

I beat the Hawks by 10, I shot like 60% from the field. These weren't all dunks or layups either so I was relieved. The Hawks shot like 20% and their defense really sucked. The Hawks did make a late comeback (I think they got within 4).

I beat the Clippers by 1. The defense improved significantly and I was down by alot. I finished the game shooting 9/13 three pointers (very unrealistic) in a comeback. I think the game has player assist which I haven't turned off.

Other things, fastbreaks are really hard (the defense quickly races down the court and someone will pick you up) and there's more blocked shots. Players have hot streaks (red icon) and cold streaks (blue icon). At times rebounding can be difficult. I never noticed this on Live but non controlled players run plays. I haven't found a toggle between arcade and simulation

On the Rockets, Griffin is bad. He is overall like 72. He airballed the only 3 I tried to shoot with him. Rice is good. I found him several times breaking open for a shot or drive to the basket. Francis is really good. If I didn't have Francis I would have lost both games.

Overall, its better than Live and kind of feels like NBA 2k2. If you want franchise or create a player, I'd stick with Live. If you want a better game with better graphics I recommend ID 2002. Or you may just want to wait for NBA 2k2.

I heard this game from my cousin who really wants it and will most definitely will get it. My question what makes the game stand out from the other games. My personal fav is NBA 2K2 out of basketball games.

I think you have two options: Live 2002 and Inside Drive 2002. Leaving off the best rookies hurt Live 2002 in my book. Also at least for the Xbox version, the defense is horrible, but you do get franchise mode and create a player as well as legends team.

In my 4th game on ID 2002, Francis got hurt and I got blown away. It wasn't even close. The Suns kept dunking on me and I couldn't hit jack - dunk or shot - it went to the other extreme  Damn them turnovers. The CPU was cheating

Or you could Live 2001 for like $5. Pretty much the same game.
