NBA Game of the Day Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001 Los Angeles Lakers at Houston Rockets Records: Los Angeles 6-0, Houston 5-3. When and where: 9 p.m. ET, Compaq Center, Houston. History lesson: Houston holds the all-time advantage in regular-season games against the Lakers, 105-49, but Los Angeles is 33-21 in games played at the Compaq Center. What to look for: The Lakers are looking to move to 7-0 and are the last unbeaten team in the league, but they’ll have to have their defensive game going tonight against one-man wrecking crew Steve Francis, who nearly led the Rockets to a win over the Spurs Tuesday despite a horrendous 24-point first half by Houston. The Lakers have always had trouble with quick guards that can penetrate, and Francis is just such a guard. Of course, Los Angeles can just try to outscore the Rockets, who have only veteran Kevin Willis inside to battle man\mountain Shaquille O’Neal. O’Neal shouldn’t have a problem getting his shots, although the Rockets will likely throw double- and triple-teams at him as much as possible. Kobe Bryant will also be a key in this one, with his drives into the paint that will lead to either easy shots or dumpoffs to his teammates. Glen Rice has shown a bit of an offensive spark for the Rockets since being inserted in the starting lineup, and he’d love to bomb away on his former teammates. He’ll need to come up big for Houston, which will likely be missing second-leading scorer Cuttino Mobley for the second straight contest.
Yea....I was just thinking the same thing.I'd be suprised to find out we even lead that series,at all.
That record doesn't even tell the whole story...During our first six years in the league, we went 8-30 against the Lakers...We've only won the season series against LA four times. We've never swept a season series with the Lakers, and on five separate occassions, the Lakers swept us during the season. BUT, we are 3-3 againt the Lakers in playoff series matchups, so that kinda makes up for it... BTW, have I mentioned that Clutch's new opponent history section kicks MAJOR ass?
