Hope this isn't a repost... Here goes. We have 2 years to go till the summer of NBA's feeding frenzy begins, but obviously everyone is getting their rosters ready to bring in some major talent without giving up any players. I don't really have my hopes up for the LeBron sweepstakes, but I do think there is a good possibility of Bosh coming over to the Lone Star State. His first choice would more than likely be Dallas since that's his hometown, But second closest would be Houston. And look at the other potential talent that may become available; Amare Stoudamire, Dwayne Wade Joe Johnson, even Dirk Nowitzki, Josh Howard, or the whiny j*zz player Carlos Boozer. Plus I really think that Houston will have good young talent added to the sophomore class we have on the team as of now. Even though next year we don't have a first round draft, I believe that more is going to bring the best players available and make the right moves to do so. Whoever we get they will bring us some major athleticism and star power to a depleted, injured, and ageing Rockets team. Still we have two years from now and we have teams making moves to improve their chances on some good players. Too soon? Should we be focused on the broken down squad that can't seem to stay healthy if their life counted on it? Or is it already looking grim this early in the season? http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=236903
The Rockets can be big players for 2010 Free Agency. We will have money to spend but right now we need to focus on now. Not only that, The Suns, Knicks, Nets, Bulls, Heat, Trail Blazers, Kings, Spurs, Raptors and the Cavs are gonna have money to play with. It's way to early right now. Too many things can happen by then.
This is exactly why T-Mac isn't going anywhere. It's not very often a team can have $20+ M come off the books, especially during a summer that features that many franchise players. I agree Lebron is a longshot, it's almost a lock he goes to either the Nets or the Knicks. I'm just hoping that these players don't sign a bunch of extensions, ala Chris Paul, in the meantime...
the problem is the bigger market up in NY...but NY may be shooting themselves in the foot by trading away all their talent, just traded crawford today....they'll only have guys like Curry, randolph, chandler and jefferies in 2010, which is ok, but isn't going to win you the multiple rings Lebron wants, and i don't think promising him they'll get more help will be enough to sway Lebron. That being said, what type of pay cut can tmac accept after his contract is over? Scola and yao will be 30 by then, Brooks 25, Landry and Hayes 27. Wafer 25. Tmac will be 30 also, but 13 yrs into his career, not sure he'll have much left, but if a reasonabe paycut is an option then he may be worth keeping around. Obviosuly this alone won't be enough to get the multiple rings Lebron wants, but you'll have all the pieces a Lebron team should have. He draws a lot of attention and you need the right guys around him. A quick starting PG with a shot. A Daniel Gibson type shooter in Wafer coming off the bench who can slash and get off his shot easily. Athletic (landry) and crafty (Scola) scorers at the 4 spots and one that does the dirtyy work (Hayes). All 3 of those guys can score close to the rim off of feeds from Lebron, which they're will be a lot of. And a big center who can hit outside shots (yao).
Don't think for one second that New York isn't going to be able to trade Randolph. Let this season play out and see how many teams are gonna try and pick him up. Walsh is good at getting things done. T-Mac would have to take a paycut. I'm not sure if he would consider it or not. I can tell you this much, a lot rides on this season. The state of the Rockets can be decided this year on how we do in the playoffs. They have to ask themself if Ron is a one year rental. Or if signing T-Mac and Scola is really worth it. Next year should be very important for Rafer. He's almost got a $6mil expiring contract next season. I know that should make a lot of folks happy.
Trading Randolph may actually be a bad thing though...if they get back a solid player then it could work out, but if they trade for a guy they're going to let walk in 2 yrs to clear more cap room, then that just thins the talent out even more. Is Lebron really going to commit years to them at that stage of his career without them having a solid core to work with? i don't see Ron coming back..why wouldn't re signing Scola be worth it? He only makes 3 mill, cheap for what he brings to the table, he's probably worth 9 mil right now, possibly 10. and guys like him aren't easy to get in this league, he may not be a superstar, but there's something about him thats unique. I don't see Rafer sticking around either, he's what, 32? He sure won't get any better, so there's no where to go but in a straight line or down for him.
This is what I don't get. We could be one of the major players in the 2010 FA, but everybody wants to trade T-Mac so OTHER TEAMS can be major players in 2010. We'll get better value in the FA than to whoever we trade for T-Mac. Man am I glad you guys post here and are not real GMs.
Um Flash do you ever venture outside the Garm? I think this board has talked about this a dozen times. A matter of fact there should be two recent thread in the NBA dish. I for one have been waiting for this the for quite some time and am hopeful we can sign quality talent. 2010 should be the year the Rockets either drop Yao and Tracy or sign them to tier 2-3 salaries...
Honestly I just write what I feel. I try to keep up with everything and see what everyone else is writing about, but haven't had much. Really I'm just getting back to checking the forum out consistently. I love the Rox just never have time to read up on these things. Sorry if i re-post so much though, I just like to voice my opinion and a lot of times I see it's the same as everyone elses.
so tmac's money is good enough atleast for dwade or cp3, maybe cut some more players and bring both here
I wasn't saying he should be resigned for that much, i'm saying he's worth that much right NOW. He's only playing 27 mins a game right now and putting up 12 and 7, if he was getting big minutes elsewhere he'd average 18 and 10 at least.
If suddenly out of the box Morey can get LBJ..wow, we will have the strongest market power with both Yao and LBJ. lol
well that can always change, its very early in the season and if he works out and they can sign him cheap, i don't see why they wouldn't want Wafer.
I think lebron will remain in cleverland till he retires. Cavs are much better than they were last season and they are still on rising. I don't think Mo Williams is a great PG but he really upgreades the cavs a lot. Mo is not pretty good at defense but he has a remarkable gift for offense, which forces their opponents to take some presure from James to him. Lebron feels a lot more enjoyable now becasue he's got a guy who can do more than grabing rebounds. Cavs used to have a couple of great rebounders in Ben and Ilgauskas and they still have. they didn't have a good striker who can share the pressure with lebron on the offense end, but now they have one in Mo Williams. Cavs are gonna take the eastern domination gradually as the celtic three turtles getting older and older (they don't care about they age though ). Melo is a little bit more aquirable, he's the most aquirable one because he's really tired of they denver nuggets, but will he be a little bit better than tmac? I think Stoudmire can benefit us most, and more importantly, we are likely to get him then. The suns will be gonna rebuild themselves if they can't win a title within these two years (they have to rebuild even if they won that, unless they want to build a team like the spurs.) With shaq/nash/hill ... ... retiring (they won't play as great as they do even if they refuse to retire), suns will not have leverages to retain him, and it's obvious that we will be more attractive than his other potential destinations because we will still have plenty of talents in Landry/Scola/Brooks/Artest who are pretty cheap for their abilities.
Knicks got rid of Crawford and Zach today to make some cap room for 2010. I dont think they would've done that if they weren't gonna get someone like Lebron James in return two years from now and they'll probably have some more cap space to sign another superstar like Wade or Bosh too. Ain't no way Houston is gonna get Lebron, Wade, or STAT. I see no real reason why they would want to go to Houston when so many other teams like the Knicks, Nets, Pistons, etc. are gonna be open to sign players like them.
