Methinks we need a stable thread (this one;) ) where we can mornitor Charlotte Bobcats expansion draft moves because of all the alleged links it has in regards to us landing the great T-Mac.

Unfortunately, I will still be at work around 6pm CST so I will appreciate it if this thread be updated with everything the Bobcats are doing (including "good" rumours) regularly so that I don't get a heart attack. I want this deal baaaaaaad.

So there you have it guys.......fire away. These are exciting times indeed. I am jacked up.

so after we hear about pike for ollie, and steve-cat-cato for tmac-howard-lue-gains-declercq.....my guess is......

    time to use the TE!!!!!

ag and the TE to the bobcats for lorenzen wright is my official prediction. the cats get the TE which will be very usefull to them. we get a new frontline in a day.

When did Lue, Gains, and DeClerq get put in the deal? But getting Wright from the BobCats is an interesting idea.

The Draft important, but worse case if Howard is picked up, they will unload someone else for sure from what the tade sounds. A contengancy plan has to be in place, but look at Charlotte Salary Cap, Howard wouldn't make sense

Dont know why we need ollie if we are going to get Lue with Tmac. As far as im concerned Lue can start for us, nevertheless he is a pretty backup pg thus. Ollie is just the next moochie. This guy is a journey man who cant hit the long ball. Though his contract is not as big as moochies, I rather not have it.

Ollie is infinitely better than Moochie.

Kevin Ollie is a definite upgrade to Moochie. Remember too that the Francis-McGrady trade uses little to none of the TE. Having a glut at PG (Lue/Gaines/Ollie/Wilks) and PF (Taylor/Howard/Spoon) is not necessarily a bad thing. And by getting the trades completed ASAP, we have until mid-September (60 days) before they can be collectively packaged for another trade. That's well before training camp.

    Bobcats Dilemma: Okafor vs. Howard

    POSTED: 8:44 am EDT June 22, 2004

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- No matter how many stiffs the Charlotte Bobcats take in the NBA expansion draft, at least they know they are getting either Dwight Howard or Emeka Okafor later this week.

The Bobcats made their first trade Monday, swapping picks with the Los Angeles Clippers to get the No. 2 overall pick and the chance to make either Howard or Okafor the cornerstone of their franchise.

They gave the Clippers the No. 4 overall pick, their second-round pick (33), and agreed to select Los Angeles center Predrag Drobnjak in the expansion draft.

Don't know much about Drobnjak? That could be a common theme with most of Charlotte's expansion picks.

The Bobcats have led everyone to believe they'll pass on big names and big contracts in the expansion draft, but disinformation is part of the game at this time of the year.

So is making deals and coach and general manager Bernie Bickerstaff has been burning up the phone lines trying to create several scenarios for the Bobcats.

In one deal close to being finalized, Charlotte would acquire center Jahidi White, cash and a future draft pick from Phoenix -- a deal that would give the Suns enough salary cap flexibility to make a run at free agents Kobe Bryant or Steve Nash.

But Charlotte could also force itself smack into the middle of other deals across the league. One rumored trade has Orlando sending Tracy McGrady to Houston for Steve Francis, but the deal is reportedly contingent on certain players not being picked in the expansion draft.

The Bobcats can muddy the waters by threatening to select some of those players and force Orlando and Houston to work with Charlotte to make the McGrady-Francis trade work.

"We're good listeners and good facilitators," Bickerstaff said. "We wouldn't try to do anything vindictive, but if it's something we can derive benefit from..."

Charlotte can also wreak havoc by selecting restricted free agents. Once picked, they automatically become unrestricted and are able to sign with any team except the one they left.

The Bobcats have to select at least 14 players on Tuesday, but only one per team. Bickerstaff has said he expects as few as five appearing on the opening day roster.

Still, there's enough unprotected talent available Tuesday for Charlotte to field a team probably capable of making a run at the Eastern Conference playoffs next season. But Bickerstaff insists he wants to take a long-range approach and has hinted he'll pass on the likes of Jerry Stackhouse, Antoine Walker, Eddie Jones and Brian Grant.

"We're looking for young players who need an opportunity to play, to get minutes," he said. "Players who've got skills, athleticism, and talent but need opportunity."

So will anyone even recognize the players Bickerstaff does select?

    "Basketball fans will," he said.

Among the unprotected players the Bobcats are believed to be interested in are Sacramento's Gerald Wallace and Jason Kapono of Cleveland.

3 picks no one important, 2 of them are restricted free agents which mean they become un restricted free agents
