Does anyone know if rockets games are broadcast on any of the nba.com stations? I live in dc, have digital cable but no satellite, so if the answer is no that means i can't watch most of the games.

I just got my digital cable hooked up and wondered what this station was all about too.

My guess is the Rockets won't get televised much. I think I heard somewhere there is only one nationally televised game.

But that might change w/ the acquisition of Rice. Folks will start expecting more and I'm sure they already realize they are a fun team to watch.

I bet next season, the Rocks are televised a lot.

Even with Digital Cable, you will still have to subsribe to the Season Pass in order to watch upto 40 games a week...including the Rockets. NBA.com TV is basically a news station doing highlights from the nights games, and they will also go to games in progress, so you could see the Rockets games....in 5 minute shots. They go from game to game, while running scores and NBA info on the tracking board at the bottom of the screen. During the day, they will show old games like ESPN Classic...but only NBA stuff. Pretty cool to watch during the day....uh when your sick...(cough cough).

NBA.com has only one Cable/Satellite Station. It's called NBA.com and they have highlights, scores, a scrolling ticker, great coverage of after game interviews during the playoffs/finals and sometimes show classic games.

NBA offers NBA League Pass which is a subscription service that allows you to watch 'out of market' games. If you have the ability to subscribe to NBA League Pass and opt to purchase the package, you should get almost all Rockets Games (except those nationally televised which are usually blacked out on NBA League Pass)

I would check with your local cable/satellite company and find out if you can subscribe to NBA League Pass, and if you can't, ask why not!?

    good luck

I had NBA League Pass the past 2 years and I believe every Rocket game that was not on NBC, TBS or TNT was shown on it. This year they are scheduled to be on TNT/TBS 10 times with 0 appearances currently scheduled for NBC (that will change if their play merits more TV time).

If you subscribe to League Pass you will more than likely see every Rocket game this upcoming season. It is possible that League Pass will black out the Wizard's home games in the D.C. area but you should be able to see those on their own station.

i have stations like nba2, nba4, up to nba10, and the highlight station. right now they show wnba games, but maybe they're just showing snippets on those stations (i haven't watched long enough) in the hopes that i'll buy the league pass.

When the NBA Season starts, those stations will show the NBA games. The WNBA stuff is probably promo stuff. I havn't gone through there, because of lack of interest. League Pass has been $169 for the season. Watch for $20 early signup discounts listed on the NBA stations, NBA.com, and on your Digital Cable provider web site. Last year Time Warner Cable (my provider) listed on their website that if you called and hooked up before Sept 30th, you got it for $149. You can also request that to be set up in 1 payment, 2 montly payments, or 4 monthly payments.

From experience. If you get it for a discount, make them send you something (hardcopy or softcopy) that states the discount. I fought them all year......"uh sir, we show no record of your call to hook up twice in August or once in September.......and we show no record of us saying that you would only be billed for half the season, since your subscription was only working the second half of the season"...... Time Warner is reallyl good about making promises, then "showing no record". Get everything in writting!

Tmo--I'd recommend you get the league pass. Like you, I live out of the Houston area and had trouble catching the Rockets. With the pass last year(and the early sign-up discount, also about $140) I was able to watch every game. And being out of area, there's no need to worry about local blackout scenarios on national broadcasts.

As a bonus you can catch all the great matchups not involving the Rocks and not on national broadcasts. You won't be disappointed. Hope your provider doesn't screw it up like Curly's did.

Tmo or anyone considering League Pass,

I've subscribed the last couple of years and think it's well worth it. Maybe ONE game was not televised. It's interesting to see the other teams' announcers "take" on the Rockets; there are some really good crews and some blithering idiots.

League pass is the only way to go, I live in Orlando, FL and don't care 1 cent about the Tragic (I only enjoy Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady). I have lived here the last 4 years and have watched everygame except for the Rockets against the Magic, which I purchase front row seats.

Bringing this topic back to the top.

How many of you guys have already signed up the 2001-02 season?

I keep having second thoughts, and MJ's comeback only makes the decision much harder. I don't think I can handle having at least one NBA game on TV every night. I'm not a big TV viewer anymore and I'm afraid I'll revert back to my old ways. How do you guys do it? Hopefully, the preseason games will change my mind.

Smokey, your reason is the exact same as mine. The Rockets every other night and TNT games is more than enough basketball. Fall nights here in Houston have been beautiful so far, you don't want to sit at home most evenings watching NBA games.

    I say don't do it.

I just ordered NBA League pass today. This will be my second year, and I am looking forward to seeing some brilliant matchups again, like the Cavs versus Bulls, and Warriors versus Nuggets.

Oh, and that Houston team interests me too.

I just moved back to Houston a few months ago. Aren't the Rockets games still shown free on Fox Sports SW? when I was in Houston during the mid-90s, all the games were broadcast on regular cable. Have things changed?

No, they haven't changed. Fox still shows all home games and some local channel will show away games..probably upn 20 again.
I would agree with the consensus of the board, league pass will EAT up your evenings with basketball if you let it(like I did last year) but I have no life so thats okay...:)
