League's TV network set to broadcast playground basketball games on Friday

NBA.com TV to Televise from Rucker

NEW YORK, June 25 -- NBA.com TV -- the NBA's 24-hour digital television network -- will air the Entertainers Basketball Classic, the renowned Harlem-based Rucker Park streetball tournament, with games and highlights to be broadcast each Friday night (8 p.m. ET) through the championship game broadcast on Aug. 17. The Entertainers Basketball Classic is among some of the first non-NBA or WNBA programming to air on the channel.

The Entertainers Basketball League consists of New York's best non-professional basketball players of all ages. The League is highly popular among New York City basketball fans, drawing more than 2,000 fans a night to its games which are played Monday through Thursdays at Rucker Park. The championship game draws more than 4,000 attendees every year.

"NBA.com TV broadcasts of the Entertainers Basketball Classic will expand the scope of the NBA," says Steve Herbst, NBA Entertainment's Vice President of Series Programming and NBA.com TV. "We are looking to explore the game of basketball on a grassroots level starting from the playground and going all the way to the NBA."

"We're very excited about NBA Entertainment's involvement in this year's tournament," said Greg Marius, CEO and Founder of the Entertainers Basketball Classic. "With NBA Entertainment's television coverage of the league we've reached a milestone in our efforts to expose the world to the unique combination of street basketball and entertainment born on the streets of Harlem."

The Entertainers Basketball Classic was founded by Greg Marius more than 20 years ago and continues a tradition that began in Rucker Park more than 50 years ago. The tournament is known for its players showing their individuality on the court and has received participation from NBA players such as Wilt Chamberlain, Julius Erving, Allen Iverson and Elton Brand.

Produced by NBA Entertainment, NBA.com TV combines real-time statistics, scores, and news from NBA.com -- the league's Official Web site -- with live studio programming, live "look-ins" of games in progress, game highlights, vintage NBA games and special programming from the award-winning archives of NBAE.

    I want:

The NBA All-Star team to play a series against the best of the Rucker League. I would pay to see this on TV.

I wish I could come up with a decent signature, but I can't. You'll just have to live with this one.
