Great article. I have no doubt that Aaron will be a great player but I wonder if he can be ready by this playoff.

His speed is great for passing his man but his height and small body really hurts his finishing and his defence. He should work on his body control while driving to the basket. It doesn't hurt to back up if its not working and run around like Nash and Paul. I think if he develops that, it'll be the step that makes him a good player.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't see the hype behind Brooks. He hasn't shown anything that leads me to believe he will be a good PG in this league. He's a streak shooter with poor court vision and average (at best) decision making skills.

Ultimately, I think he will be a backup who comes in for instant offense. Some nights he will score 20 and other nights he will score 4. Poor man's Leandro Barbosa.

I would have expected him to have more steals being a quick small guy, especially in the passing lane.

Thanks for sharing your very odd opinion. Now I understand why Brooks is criticized after every game - people can't even accept his good qualities.. heaven forbid he has a bad moment. I think ClutchFans is going to crash during the playoffs with all the Brooks and Tracy hate.

If a year ago you told me that Aaron Brooks would be the starting PG, I would've laughed.

That's testament of how the Rockets trust Brooks and his ability. If he can be more consistent in terms of production and what we can expect out of him every night, he'll do great.

I don't think there is anything odd about my opinion. I do, however, have a problem understanding your post as you directed it at me and then made comments that have nothing to do with what I actually said.

    Stop whining.

    Remember when he was drafted?

Everybody on the board was telling we don't need point guard and saying bunch of crap.

At that time I had high hopes for Mike James, Steve Francis and Vassilis Spanoulis.

Brooks was unknown at that time, look at him now.

You can argue that he doesn't have enough experience or maybe isn't a good passer or anything but you have to respect his achievements since 2007.

I remember he was working all summer, so this is all due to his hard work.

Lol at the bashing. Where did we draft Brooks again? Not everyone can be a Sam Cassell or Cuttino Mobley. The bottom line is we got a LOT more value out of him than we expected, and he has plenty of upside. His turnover/assist ratio isn't good, but that should get better, and his 3pt shot is better than most would have expected.

................all I know is this team is better off with Brooks and Lowry taking the point guard minutes than it was with Rafer and Brooks taking the point guard minutes.

we are better off with lowry then with rafer.

I think the hype behind Brooks is just that; its hype. The main reason for this is his inconsistency. Now granted, its too early to make serious judgement on him becausse his experience is still relatively limited. My expectation would be that he would be regarded as one with potential, but not one who is getting this much praise and attention from the national media.

I hope it turns out that hype is warranted.

I agree with you. Decision making can be improved with more games, but lak of court vision is a killer. Combine that with height and strength on defense, I can't see Brooks as a championship level PG unless Rockets are simply loaded at other postions.

As much as I like watching Brooks, I don't think he will become an allstar calibre PG as long as he is in the Rockets. I am all for Lowry succeeding with this team, and that will mean that AB doesn't get allstar minutes. I still think he's entertaining though.
