7) HOUSTON ROCKETS

2007-08 RECORD: 55-27, third place, Southwest Division, lost in first round

KEY ACQUISITIONS: F Ron Artest (trade with Sacramento), G Brent Barry (UFA, San Antonio)

KEY RE-SIGNINGS: C Dikembe Mutombo

KEY LOSSES: F Donte Greene (traded to Sacramento), G Bobby Jackson (traded to Sacramento)

PROJECTION: Bring oxygen to Toyota Center next season, for there will be 14 players, four coaches, a general manager, an entire front office, an owner and his wife holding their collective breath all season.

This is not to say the already-strong Rockets were wrong to take a flier on Artest, not when he's in the last year of his contract and not when they were able to hold on to guard Aaron Brooks, whom Sacramento has coveted. An Artest-Shane Battier perimeter defensive duo would be as good as any in the league, freeing up Tracy McGrady to do even more at the offensive end. Barry showed in the playoffs that he's got a little tread on his tires, and if Yao Ming is all the way back from his foot injury, the Rockets are legitimate title contenders.

But who will look Big Ron in the eye when he starts acting the fool? That's been the big problem in each of his stops; there's no one around who'll get in his grille and try to get him back on the same page as the team. (What's Mr. Mean, Larry Smith, up to these days?) Artest swears he'll do right by Rick Adelman.

Maybe he will.

Have a couple of CO-2 tanks standing by, just in case.

I will not comment on their ranking, as i find it absurbed that nets is the team with the best offseason..

I've nothing againest but I have to suggest the guys who have little knowledge about english(their knowledge of english may even be less than mine) pay more effort for preperation when they adhere to posting something here. All the words you have posted here really realllly make no sense to me except those in the quote. American people had made english no longer a language it had used to be, and it's even worse that some people who are neither british nor american made the american english no longer a language it used to be before that dude joined the cluthfans/forum.

damn I just can't resist.. I'll do ONE.

At number 8 (right behind the Roxs) they have the Golden State Warriors.

Are you kidding me? They lost the heart and soul of Nelly ball Run-n-Gun when Baron Davis bolted to LAL. They then lost Barnes and Pietrus, who were integral role-players. They overpaid and signed oft-injured Corey Maggette to a long-term contract, even though they have an excess of swingman-type players who do EXACTLY what he does. They used a first-round pick to select Anthony Randolph, who is an exact CLONE of Brandon Wright, who was their lottery pick last year. Then they lost their future star and new-heart-of-the-team Monte Ellis to a moped injury until late December...

And they are number 8? Right behind the Rox? LOL...

New jersey number 1?. they traded a very good player in jefferson for a scrub in yi. sure they'll have some cap space, but i highly doubt lebron would consider going there.
