by Fran Blinebury. Didn't see it posted anywhere http://www.nba.com/2011/news/features/fran_blinebury/08/01/hakeem-olajuwon-feature/index.html Always good to read about the good ole days. Particulary like to be reminded of this: "For those who would diminish those championships for coming during Michael Jordan's "retirement," consider that during the first "three-peat" from 1991-93, the Rockets posted a 5-1 record against the Bulls. And following a home loss in 1993, Jordan sat in the bowels of the old Chicago Stadium, shook his head and said, "It's a good thing those guys can't find their way to the Finals, because we don't have an answer for the big guy."
That article brought joy to my heart. Thanks for sharing. "Olajuwon is the only player in history to end his career ranked in the top 10 all-time in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and steals." That's what you call putting in work!
Oh, they do. I've been all over Cali and Hakeem is always given props when top centers of all time are discussed. You underestimate how respected Hakeem is by the NBA fan landscape.
My only complaint is the repeated references to "the big guy." Hakeem dominated centers who had 2-4" and 20lbs on him - and he did it inside, with power as much as finesse. Just a one of a kind...
i this team was located in any other city they would give alot more credit validity to our championship teams.. thats why i just ignore the haters like espn, its pathetic
