http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2011/03/20/the-sunday-read-grudge-match/?ls=iref:nbahpt1 Is it surprising that the Nuggets are playing so well right now and the Knicks are just soso? Nuggets have no stars right now yet they've been 9-4 since the trade and the knicks are 7-7...
Nuggets are definitely playing with a chip on their shoulder - Karl (and Martin) did a good job rallying the group. They also have a rare luxury of being two deep at each position. Knicks have to find their identity and are really short on defenders. Maturity issues too. Amped up when they see Miami, but come out flat and half hearted against the like of the Pacers.
It was funny hearing people say Denver got robbed and were getting nothing back in this trade when this trade was made.
When the details were announced, I think most people said the Nuggets did OK. I'm not surprised the Nuggets have spurted since the Melo trade. He was wearing out his welcome and his departure came as a relief to the players and George Karl. Karl is also very good at using stuff like this as motivation to get everyone on one page for a period of time. But I don't think it will last. In the Knicks case, I'll repeat from the other thread. Their roster is very flawed and they have a lot of work to do over the summer. I also have serious reservations that D'Antoni is the right coach. With the Heat and Bulls in the way, I don't see the Knicks being Finals contenders soon.
I don't think anyone really thought that. Denver got the biggest return possible for a disgruntled superstar hellbent on leaving. They were in a horrible position, but created a bidding war between NJ and NY. They could have taken NJ's package of multiple picks, but opted for NY's player-heavy package. What else could you ask for?
just to put this in perspective. The Rockets have no stars either, and we are 10-3 over the same time span.
Fun watching NY lose... ^^ Especially considering how terrible the Bucks have been recently. (Although they did take Orlando to OT). lol, Carmelo just airballed a 3pointer while out of bounds in the waning moments of the game.
Considering through LeBron's rough stretch Skip Bayless was on 1st and 10 boasting on how Melo was the better player I hope they bring up the Knicks struggle tomorrow.
im not surprised the knicks arent better. Never liked Carmelo . He is a fake thug with no heart. Denver hasnt played as a team in long time.
What do you think are the chances of NY missing the playoffs? It would be great if we make the playoffs, do some damage while NY misses it and we swap our pick for a shiny new lottery pick. BTW I heard the Melo trade was due to Isiah thomas going behind Walsh's back and orchestrating a trade with Denver. If so, Thomas sabotaged the Knicks yet again.
They will make the playoff's, no matter what. 7 - KnicksKnicks 35 34 8 - PacersPacers 30 40 9 - BucksBucks 28 41 10 -Bobcats 28 41
Guaranteed the Knicks make the playoffs. Both the Bucks and Bobcats are 7 games behind with only 13 games left. Walsh was involved in the Melo trade. I read that he was holding the line against the Nuggets final demands but Dolan overruled him at the last minute.
