    Hey Clutchfans,

Wanted to show that our rookie is putting in his petition for some playing time come start of the season. Does this mean that Rafer is on the bubble or that the starting job is up for grabs just like the power forward spot? More news to come, but back to Aaron and his accomplishments....

Las Vegas, July 15 -- The Houston Rockets held off a late New Orleans Hornets’ run to end their summer league play with a 98-93 victory.

The Hornets trailed by 13 points with 3:13 left in the game after a Ron Lewis jumpshot. New Orleans closed the game to just five w points ith 7.3 seconds left, but could get no closer.

Six Rockets players scored in double figures, led by Aaron Brooks’ 18 points (6-15 FG) and four assists. Brooks was named the T-Mobile Rookie of the Month for his performance in summer league after the game. The rookie from Oregon posted averages of 21.4 points, 5.2 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 31.8 minutes of play over five games.
Steve Novak contributed 15 points (5-8 FG), including four three-pointers, while Andre Emmett had 14 points (7-8 FG) in 21 minutes of play.

The Hornets, who finished the summer league with an 0-5 record, had some nice performances in the loss. 12th overall selection from the 2006 NBA Draft, Hilton Armstrong, continued to look confident as he had a double-double of 13 points (4-11 FG, 5-11 FT) and 10 rebounds. Anthony Richardson had a team-high 19 points (8-9 FG) and five rebounds in 23 minutes. Second round pick Adam Haluuska broke out of his shooting slump with 15 points (6-8 FG), including three three-pointers.

The Rockets finished summer league play with a 4-1 record.

Actually, no. Randy Foye was Summer League MVP last year. JL3 was first team All Summer League.

Lucas may never see the light of day on the Rockets but there are a lot of other teams who are interested in him.
